Help with MP/CP settings / rate of MP gain
I'd love to have an AI skirmish match that drags on like the AS2 missions. Unfortunately, there is no way to get the almost unlimited but slow MP gain like in AS2. Because in the resource settings the MP amount is directly tied to the rate of MP gain, I'm stuck with either little to no MP or so much MP at once that the AI just spams the hell out of units and the game is over far too quickly.

What could I do to alter the MP amount AND the rate of MP gain? Do I need to make a mod or are there game files I could edit? I just want a ton of CP and MP but with a very slow gain so that units are slowly pouring out over time and building up to a huge final confrontation.

Hi, yes unfortunately mp amount and gain are connected so you need to create a mod to achieve that.

find your files in resource\set\multiplayer\games\presets
see for example preset_combined_user.inc (included by combined_arms.set in previous folder)

in "standard_user" block you can find a "budgets" block, look at growTime and growTable (start and finish values are set in presets further down in the file)

to change values for ai only, you might try to copy this budgets block into the "bots" block that else uses the player values with modifiers from "bots_combined_arms.inc"
this should work but not tested myself, no promises

good luck!

Hey Kurgan, any luck with this?

Thanks for aswering and helping the community out, Left.

I'm looking for the exact same thing, matches are either super rushed, or too barren. I want to hit that sweet spot in-between that can really only be achieved by slowing down the MP gain rate. I wish there was an option in the skirmish custom settings that could alter the rate at which MP is generated, for a longer lasting, consistent and balanced skirmish experience.

I'm no stranger to editing game files as long as it's just text files with values and such - I've navigated to the folder and file you mentioned - but I'm a bit uncertain as to what I should set the numbers to.

Any help is appreciated!

Actually, I haven't tried yet. I'd suggest trying what Left wrote to achieve what we were looking for.
