Co-op direct control
Is there any built-in method of co-op games with one or more players specializing in direct control?

I assume co-op multiplayer with bots trying to play like that would simple result in the direct control players stock-piling very large amounts of resources that are neglected? Skirmish co-op, I assume the direct control players would constantly need to leave DC to distribute units that were forced on them by the game's auto-distribute mechanic? Dedicated direct control players in previous games wasn't possible due to those issues in the two co-op game types.

Thinking of picking it up on sale, the first/3rd person direct control for co-op is the most interesting feature. Other than that, to be frank it looks like a modern setting MOW mod with micro-transactions up the wazoo and stacks of DLC pre-order nonsense. Looks a bit fee-2-pay.

Interesting direct control co-op modes would tip it over into being something special, if they're in it. Typically isometric direct control in previous games was mostly used to get around pathfinding issues or when a unit refused to shoot. Dedicated direct control players in co-op, however, does sound pretty interesting if it's viable.

so far as a free to play player i find this game very enjoyable, online play is fully free vs bots or players

Yeah I don't doubt the gameplay itself is fun, the MOW formula isn't bad. It's just that the value for money is less than previous games, and I'd be hopeful that the dev could push the 1st/3rd person direct control into being something meaningful and fun for co-op.

You are free to use direct control in coop, for example lets say 2 players playing in coop and they want to clear a hangar, they could each take 1 soldier, and direct control each in zoomed in third person/first person covering each other as they move in to clear it out. Just one approach.
