Infantry formations?
Would it be possible to have the infantry squads move up in line and stuff like that without micro managing every single soldier?

Micro managing every single soldier is the reason why people love this game. Each unit has it's own inventory that carries his own ammo, weapon, stuff, explosives, armor, gear etc. If you want to move them as a squad be sure to hold your click and select them via a square. Remember, we are so lucky to be playing a RTS game that has some elements of FPS and has it's own unique phisics and unique health and inventories.

Unless you wan't to go play CoH where the bullet meets the head and the unit only takes 0.5/10 of the damage :)

Lol. I know that each unit has it's own inventory. I also know how to select several soldiers at once, that was not the question I had.

I also play CoH but with the blitzkrieg mod, that fixes the problem with bullet sponges ;)

i freaking hate any game that groups multiple soldiers into a single entity. That kind of game mechanics annoys the s*** out of me. Whenever i want to decide to do something that requies one soldier, i have to assign the whole squad. By the way. what is the name of that mechanics?

I agree, but that is not what I was wondering :) I simpy wonderd if there was someway to make a squad move in formation or a quick comand to get them to form a line or something simmilar. That does not remove the possibillity to move a single soldier by himself, it yust makes handeling the squads a bit easier.

That would be really cool. I would personally love the idea of taking section or squad formations or be able to instruct infantry to follow in a collum behind armour etc. neat idea!

wow, i just realize your idea is really neat. Formation where troops can advance alon side tank or vehicles. That is really neat

That would also be a nice addition to the game.

Yeah, I wondered if there would be a way to assign formations. That's something I would really enjoy. It takes too much time to micro all of the members 'real-time'. I get there are some ppl who are ADD and have extra mouse buttons, but it shouldn't be that complicated

the gameplay of this game is built around "mirco-ing", focusing on importance of individual soldiers. Furthermore, the game has the cover system. Even when when your troops are in formation, they are at great disadvantage when enemy soldiers are behind cover and spread out

Atleast for me it would make it a bit more satisfying seeing my little killers running in realistic formations and moving up on a line on the click of a key :)

I'll all for "micro-ing", which works well against player vs. player, but not really against AI and it member/squad selection still doesn't feel organic to me yet. I love the game regardless.

Here's hoping for the implimintation of squad/section formations. I like the idea of open formation or advancing by two's etc like a real life section attack cover and move. I releaise on a small scale you can do this yourself but on a large scale operation this type of command option would prove benificial.

Dev's if its not too late, and the engine supports it, this idea certainly has merit. The ability for formations would be beneficial to quite a few players. I have visions of an extended line sweep across a corn field looking for that pesky sniper. Just not sure if the engine can support it however.

To me, so far, it feels like a crapified MOWAS2 with a modern skin on it.... kind of like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ version of the numerous overhaul mods that mowas2 has available on the workshop ....

a bit sad really..
