Tex Murphy: Under a Killing Moon

Tex Murphy: Under a Killing Moon

I love this game!
So after finishing Harvester I fell in love with FMV games. Now playing this and apart from controls this game is brilliant! The story is interesting, the world reminds little bit some Philip K. ♥♥♥♥ books, there is the same atmosphare, Im sure the makes of Tex Murphy are fans of Philip K.D.. I don't understand why some people seems to hate FMV-games.

Any other good fmv games on steam? And whats you're favorite?

It is true that a great deal of FMV games from the '90s were pretty terrible-- minimimally interactive and overly trial-and-error focused (in the Dragon's Lair sense), plagued by bad acting, and they've generally aged worse than older games with pixel and sprite based art due to the low resolution video, compression artifacts, and the fact that the digitized actors tend to stand out so much from the backdrops. Really the only ones I've ever liked all that much are The Beast Within and Under A Killing Moon. I haven't played most of the other ones mentioned here yet though, so I'm biased by the memories of playing a lot of awful random FMV games in my youth. I have always heard good things about some of these other games, and have meant to check them out for a while.

Also, if you haven't checked it out yet, Her Story was just recently released and I liked it a lot. It's not really an adventure game, and doesn't really have anything resembling traditional gameplay at all, but it does make very effective use of FMV. Probably not everyone's cup of tea though.

What? No mention of The 7th Guest? It's on Steam and it's great.
