I tried the ProtonDB recommendation and played about a minute of the game until another kind of error. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2922671986

Even if it did work, a game that requires tinkering should never be verified. Unfortunately, even the tinkering hasn't helped. It felt very janky and slowed to under 1fps during one of the first cutscenes and then halting with the above error.

Nope, I was running SteamOS.

Works fine for me on default settings (Proton 7.0-6). Maybe it's been fixed?
