Reason: Greed
Companies make games to make money. In other news, water is wet and the sky is blue.
I would rather have a good game with less shiny graphics and animations and stuff what was made by a smaller team for less money than such an overblown project.
Maybe you've been asleep for a few decades, but you might want to look up what inflation is and how an economy functions.
Even factoring in stuff like purchasing power parity or Steam's somewhat arbitrary regional pricing recommendations (which they haven't adjusted much if at all since 2022, apparently,) it seems like the highest price you would end up with from a conversion + those factors and an additional premium of 15% or what have you, would be something like 74 Euros. And even that is kind of pushing it imo. Yet it's 79.99 Euros evidently.
Again, I'm fine with the price here, personally. 69.99 USD is a price I've paid for other AAA games, and I have little doubt this game (though I'm not going to preorder and will wait to see for sure) like every Doom game will give me tons of enjoyment to justify that. But the regional price in Euros does feel high to me for those in that part of the world.
Edit: Though, since learning more about how VAT works in the region, it's possible that could account for it honestly.
