DOOM: The Dark Ages

DOOM: The Dark Ages

Would a RTX 3060 12 GB VRAM and Ryzen 5 5600x be enough?
As the title says, I'm looking to play this game @1080p at high settings, hopefully at 60+ fps. Is it finally time to upgrade to a AM5 Ryzen 7 and add a few more RAM sticks? (I'm currently running with 16 GBs)

You'll probably be able to run it way better than you're expecting GPUwise since you have 12GB of VRAM. idTech is really VRAM hungry and those system requirements are reflecting that. Don't run the texture setting above High and You'll be fine. The texture setting doesn't even affe t texture quality; just how much of your VRAM can be occupied by texture data.

CPU, on the other hand, you might want to upgrade because there's probably a very good reason why it's requiring 8 cores/16 threads minimum. And that's probably because there's gonna be actual hordes of demons on screen. Indiana Jones was slamming my 5600X with only 8-10 NPCs/active enemies on screen. One clip of that Dark Ages gameplay had at *least* 30 demons on screen.

As always, while I imagine so, we just can't say until we see benchmarks. Experience has taught me not to assume. We can make reasonable inferences, but not concrete assumptions.
RTX 3060 is practically the same performance wise as RTX 2060 Super listed for 1080p/60 FPS/Low. Meaning that 60+ FPS High is very questionable, but probably still achievable with a mix of DLSS+DRS.

Thank you all very much!

My guess is the CPU requirements are not accurate at all because they list the 3700X and the 5700X but why ?

If we think about it there are other good 6 core CPUs out there like the 5600X and the 7600X which will do the job without any issues.

Even the RYZEN 5 3600 will be enough - GAMERS NEXUS actually made a video not too long ago about it.

I also have played INDIANA JONES on my RYZEN 5 3600 and had zero issues with the game even with a lot of enemies on screen - had solid 90 FPS without any issues, it's also the same engine as DOOM DARK AGES and Id Software are the BEST when it comes to optimizing PC versions.

OP don't upgrade just yet, wait until the game releases and see how it runs.

There is no way the game will not actually launch in my opinion given that the CPU specs mention 3700X and 5700X.

They also mention ZEN 2 which includes CPUs like RYZEN 5 3600, RYZEN 5 3500, RYZEN 3 3300X, RYZEN 3 3100.

I simply do not believe the game will not launch on something that is ZEN 2 and up, it just doesn't make much sense.

5600x beats 3700x and 3900x in every gaming benchmark including CPU heavy open world and strategy games. Ryzen 5 7600 beats the 5800x in Space Marine 2 which is a very CPU heavy game. So it stands to reason that the 5600x should beat the 3700x in the latest CPU heavy games as well.
