DISABLE RAY TRACING UPDATE WHEN?
Very nice game, Id Software. Very eager to play the game at a smooth 200fps like the previous two games whenever the "disable ray tracing" patch drops. Great job guys!

Coming right up, just after "disable textures" and "disable animations" updates. Oh wait, we'll probably have to wait for at least "disable physics" before that. Well, maybe "disable shadows" as well.

I take it no switch 2 release is planned? LoL

Even with a 7800XT, the ray tracing makes FSR, and Frame Gen a requirement to play at 60+ FPS. With those settings it looks like it came out before DOOM 2016. They NEED to remove it.

Considering it's literally baked into the engine, start holding your breath.

df talked about the new engine, don't think you can turn off RT, game will look dark literally without indirect lighting.. just like in the dark ages 😏

Press X to doubt. Some genius will come up with a mod I'm sure.
You mean some genius will come up with a mod that removes a basic element of idTech 8?

Okay.

Considering that according to the latest news it might be not that far from Series S performance wise, on top of having Nvidia GPU (meaning superior RT handling comparatively), I won't be surprised if they actually manage to squeeze 30FPS out of it with the help of heavy DLSS usage.

That's a choice, no one forced them to make an engine that can't have raytracing turned off.

You're right. Moving forward with technology is a choice.

Moving forward with technology is so awesome I love how a game that looks worse than the previous one is x5 demanding! I love this engine that was known for running super well is now .. not gonna be known for that. Give me a break

No such update for Indiana Jones. Same engine. Never.

you people arent normal, ray tracing is a pointless cheap gimmick that should never be forced in games
Game seems to be pretty insanely optimised, just played the first mission on dlaa with framegen, all settings on ultra nightmare at 1440p, constant 120fps, 4070 super
