Chainsaw Zombie has ruined this game for me
Up until this point I was able to solo this entire game. I even killed a few chainsaw zombies because I could see them coming and I had time to bait them out, kite them around, and safely snipe them.

I'm at the level where you start up the power, or something, and then you have to fight off a seige of zombies that come from every direction. Boxes, over fences, across the map - everywhere. Par for the course, but the problem is made much worse when there is no safe place to defend yourself. Every position has like three points of entry, and this house or whatever is so narrow and tightly packed that putting down any explosives will only serve to hurt you more than them.

And then comes the chainsaw zombie. "Oh, well he's slow, there's not a problem." Like ♥♥♥♥ is he slow. He's faster than any other regular zombie, outclocked only by the kamikazes. He loves to spin around Leatherface-style making it incredibly difficult to get a headshot, and since it takes like 20-30 headshots to take him down, that just complicates things immensely.

Again, wouldn't be an issue if I could kite him around more easily, but I'm beset on all sides by zombies coming for every direction but up. I wish I could get ammo for my Preacher, but the game gave me 3 bullets and decided that was enough for that.

This has gone from a delightful challenge to not being fun in the slightest. This one horribly designed map has ruined this playthrough for me.

I understand your feelings. It is the hardest siege of the entire game. But it is possible. I know because I played this mission on hardest difficulty with Elite enemy setup. And I completed it with little trouble. I just kept running around, avoiding that big chainsaw, land mines are quicker to deploy, then run. Grenades a few zombies that might be blocking my way, making every shot count on the run, (using alternate aiming CTRL button to headshot zombies), and again, keep on running and letting the 2 chainsaw dudes (yea, I had 2 at the same time) shred their smaller partners on the way to me.

This siege literally took me 50 minutes to complete alone, but I managed to do it. It's doable. Sniper Elite difficulty, For Elite Players enemy setup.

And well, for the Preacher... I wasn't even using it. If you're lucky, you can search zombies on the ground. They might give you a bit of ammo, IF you're lucky.

That sounds like a really good sniper game with slow enemies!

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

He just makes game harder. I don't see a reason why he shouldn't be in the game

I have nothing against the enemies and their design. This topic just reminded me how close combat intensive the maps in the third installment are. I am not fond of that map design decision.

Because he's poorly balanced for the game. This is a game about sniping, and they put in a charging spindick who starts off the fight immune to headshots.

i never head hard time killing him as you can run from him forever

Which is what you have to do, yes. However that is made much more difficult when you have zombies pouring out of every conceivable hole in the zone, ready to slap you the second you try to take aim at him.

without him that level would be less challaning, more generic. if it's too hard for you play on lower difficulty, or keep trying

I am going to keep trying. My issue with his inclusion was that it made an otherwise normal level spike in challenge beyond appropriate degrees. A well designed game has a steady incline of difficulty, scaffolds the challenges so they feel rewarding when completed, and never seem impossible, even on the first attempt.

This is just a slog and an exercise in monotony.

You can also make him run thorugh the other zombies which does some of the work for you but that seige is by far the most tedious in the whole game. Yes, chainsaw is a bullet sponge but the armored skeletons are the enemies that annoy the piss out of me.

omg yes, that first siege, in the pillbunkers, when they first show up. Had to lap around that small area several times to kill them all. And infinitely spawning kamikazes? no thanks. No thanks.

Woo! I did it. No less hatered for that level because even after I took out the chainsaw zombie, it took forever to clear out the regs because they, again, were 360 on my ass.

I was only able to kill the chainsaw with dynamite and a few grenades thrown at my own feet. I would throw one right at my feet, let him catch up to me, and run off before it exploded. Throwing from a distance never worked because he can out run it. Dynamite also helped a lot, but landmines were never tripped.

The BEST advice I can give for that level is there is a small vent that you prone crawl through. In fact I think you have to crawl through it to get to the electrical switch to start the horde, so you can't miss it. Simply crawl under it and stay prone. Back up enough into the building so the zombies wont bother to come directly to the vent to hit you and will have to circle around. Then once they've done that and start tickling your anus, crawl a bit further up so you're on the other side of the vent. Again, they can't crawl after you, so they'll go around.

It stil takes forever to do the level, but at least it got done. Also realized you don't take fall damage, so dont' be afraid to vault off the balcony. :wizorbwink:

I *almost* gave up just like you! What I did to beat it was use the gernades, mines, trip wires, and dynamite that was provided first. I ran and tried to group them all up to make the biggest explosive kill I could. Then kicked the singles (kicking is VERY effective) then moppped up the rest with headshots. For me this was the hardest part of the game. After this .... cakewalk (but still tons of fun!).

That's sniper school tactics right there! I'm so glad players are enjouying their ranged zombie headshots. :)
