English "Localization" issues
I enjoyed the Demo overall, but I couldn't help but notice that Lolcowlizers have seemingly been involved with translating this game, why do they keep hiring them?

The Japanese voice line for this one was just "Hai":

She was yelling about him being dead here:

For many others, they didn't have voice lines, but I somehow heavily doubt the English translation is even close to what's being said in the Japanese version:

There were a lot more Cringe ones especially for Darumi throughout, I didn't Screencap them all. Also still plenty of simple typos left.

This kind of stuff downgrades an interesting game from "get it early" to at least "wait for a Deep Sale", or if it's bad enough even "Ignore", just like I wouldn't buy a book I'm interested in if I find out that parts of it have been purposefully mistranslated.

Well. Given who the head localizer is, it is not surprising. Either learn japanese or pray someone runs the script through MTL/A.I, and edits it; like the recent Kiseki games. But really, learn japanese and you will enjoy japanese games much much more.

Honestly even being able to play in JP i find the opposite to be true in that i still think about the localisation, its annoying, like you know the state of the industry is bad when you see a line in the script and can predict exactly what they will change don't you.

そうそう、男子はいつだってお姫様を守るヒ一ローじゃなくつちゃ
(roughly) Thats right, men (boys) must always be the hero that protects the princess.
(official TL) How touching! A knight in shining armor, charging in to rescue his princess from danger!

It went from a general statement about gender roles to specifically about his action, this is not an untranslatable line that wouldn't work in English yet this is still usually the exact stuff that gets changed, "sexism" etc.

After playing through the demo with JP dub and EN sub. I hate the localization, especially during certain lines where what is said is not what is written. But in the current year, I would say that this is considered good enough for me. My expectations have dropped that far because these garbage "translators" won't be disappearing in my lifetime.

For people who don't understand JP, the overall vibe of the story and gameplay won't really be impacted much. Nevertheless, if you want to experience better translation, go with OCR and GPT and feed it the context. GPT translation is far more amazing than I imagined it could be. But for a killing game, you may need a local GPT.

Thanks Dexter, I saved money and won't buy this.

op is ill-guided and being terminally online, but also all localizers should lose their jobs along with the people who enable bad translations.

Localizers can't be replaced by AI soon enough. How they still have a job is beyond me, disgusting.

better being a "gooner" than "cracking eggs". This localization is just indefensibly bad.

I refunded my pre-order. After seeing the translation.

Yeah. that's really all you can do without advocating for piracy.

Both writers/directors have written lgbt characters into their games, with kotaro even going on twitter to defend lgbt people and the non-binary character he put in a game he wrote for

https://danganronpa.fandom.com/wiki/Juzo_Sakakura#Relationships

By going crazy over imagined fictional woke DEI translators you're merely showing you've no idea of the people behind this game and as such are not part of these "fans" you seem so concerned over

Maybe you should just tweet at kotaro sometime and at least give us a laugh after he humiliates you like the last "fans" that tried to reprimend him over not being a bigot

LGBT characters existing is not a problem, and you should feel bad for trying to use it as a smokescreen to defend bad translations, especially as bad translations have a history of writing LGBT subject matter out.
Mikka Bōzu Apr 12 @ 1:44pm
Consider the almost impossible to see fact that one of the directors is fully fluent in English, do you presume he is allowing poor translations in a project he's risking bankruptcy and still never even bothering to check up a bit on how the translation is going? All the "problems" listed here are from people that don't even know japanese going off of what their web translator is telling them (which couldn't be more inaccurrate regarding japanese), and all these supposed problems are random things that don't matter with context or in one case listed as bad because instead of reinforcing gender roles like it would be accurate to do for japan considering the market there instead not doing it for the global market which is the more adviced thing to do considering how they're more progressive, I fear it should be obvious enough that this nonsensical nitpicking from people that have not a clue of who's making the game and how they are and write things is merely a poor facade to hide hatred towards the lgbt and promote the sexism the localization is attempting to change, in literally, one line.
Don't know why I'm even bothering to sperg out on someone ignoring the blatant enough dogwhistle of complaining about DEI blue haired evil people ruining all oh so glorious japanese games

There is exactly one rewrite here that has anything to do with LGBT matters and you're trying to pretend everything is about that and only that. Your bad faith is transparent.

lmao, this dude is talking about hatred while we are discussing the poor translation done by people who have no talent or respect for the source material.
