Alpha and Iota is a puzzle platformer about repairing a computer system inhabited by sentient agents. You operate a repair core, which can navigate the system by ejecting between a variety of different host types. Some hosts are fixed in place, while others jump, slide, climb walls, or follow rails.

Changes:

Added option to lock ejection controls to 8 directions. This allows the game to be played with a keyboard only, and is otherwise not recommended.
Fixed typo in profile Log for Den.
Fixed bug causing solid track hosts to only emit particles when moving upwards.
Added conduit system to all Dual subsystems to improve quality of life.

TQE question (slight spoilers)

Noticed the TQE node earlier but only just got around to actually checking what's in there (just a whole second mode, no biggie), I am curious if there is a time one is intended to attempt them? I ask as I did the first set of 23 (last one was hard!) and I had not seen the "warping" mechanic in the game proper yet, plus it seemingly required figuring out how to make the blocks float in a way where if you nudge them from below they fly a bit higher which up through the Iota node at least the game doesn't a...

Update Notes for 1-2-26

Changes:

Added new file-management system, allowing for up to 8 regular files as well as 4 special challenge files.
Updated title screen menu.
Increased weight of font to improve readability.
Added new ID mechanic. Collect profile information (with flavor text) throughout the game-world to change your in-game profile.
Added speed-run modes (implemented as challenge files). To unlock these, complete the game and then complete a time-trial for any area.
Modestly expanded the secret area where a particular secret setting is unlocked, and added a challenge profile which locks the player to that secret setting.
Cores now make a small sound when they return to the player.
Removed several unnecessary "Missed corrupted conduit" warnings in subsystems Alpha and Beta.
Alternate ejection modes now must be unlocked in a specific profile to be used. That is, unlocking an alternate ejection mode in one profile no longer unlocks it in all profiles.

Bug Fixes:

Fixed bug which caused the game to crash if you left Alpha's subsystem at a very specific moment during dialogue.
Fixed bug causing Cores to sometimes return to the player too soon during dialogue.
Fixed bug which caused certain text items to have low opacity.
Fixed several tiling errors.
Fixed bug where changes to input type (controller/KBM) would sometimes fail to update tutorial text.
Fixed memory leak caused by exiting to the main menu repeatedly.
Fixed bug allowing time and target trials to be initiated without a level reset.

Changes:

Redesigned Core home modules to represent player progress
Added representation of player progress in upper left of pause menu
Redesigned target trials. Instead of needing to break every target, you now need to break as many targets as you can within a fixed time limit. Before, some target trials felt long and tedious. As a result, old target trial records will be overwritten with this patch.
Data fragment indicator now rotates to match data fragments in levels

Game often crashing on start-up

Took a year but finally got back around to this. Generally when I try to start the game via steam it crashed before it ever loads up, so far I basically get it to load successfully once every four or five attempts (last time was after I tried re-verifying the files, it did not find anything but maybe it helped?). this is an interesting idea, and I like the style. I find the controls a bit annoying, though. Autopilot is much harder than it needs to be. I feel like a single tap of a button should turn on autopilot in the direction you last moved. is there a reason why I shouldn't be able to travel the reverse direction on the yellow "laser highways"? Seems like it just leads to needless repetition of levels once you've gone too far by mistake. Both of these issues stem, I guess, from the fact that I'm approachin...

Beta's Jungnode

Hi again, Betas jungnode is my last missing jungnode. But i am stuck right at the start. The only direction for the "Big Block" (stops only at an obstacle) is up, all other three directions are leading into void. The rail system is too far aray from the "cat face" (the one on rubberband) to get it and with the watcher i did not see anything helpful. Has anyone an subtle tip for me what i am missing? Thanks!...

Epsilon: Second key?

Hi, I am banging my head against the wall for the second/left key in the early part of Epsilon. The right one is rather simple ( Freeze the chained four ), but i did not get the left key in the corruped (yellow) area. The hint system is no helb ("ask a human")... Is the a hint (please not the solution)....
