Can you trust Apex?
It says it will protect the Flux state if I help it and set it free. Can I trust it? Sorry it's been a long time since I played so I've forgotten a lot of the backstory haha. Seems like a very good offer to save me pain in the arse of fighting it and get help during the final mission.

To keep it short (I remember giving a full explanation somewhere else), without spoiling:

It will protect the Flux State, as it said, as long as you obey it. However, don't forget that it's still an AI, without actual human feeling. If it believes killing someone is mathematically worth it, it will.

Well, for the duration of the game, APEX would keep it's promise. But to me, going into the matrix to save it is too much a hassle.

Besides, it killed your friend and stole her face. Story wise I see no reason why you would want that thing around.

to me bigger question's whether to give dragon to him/her/it. and that's where all hell can break lose depending on...

You need to if you want to save the Flux State though. It all depends on what your runner believes would be better, and what kind of "better" they're looking for.

There are basically 3 different end text epilogue endings for the game. The first one is where you ruin the world. The second one is the canonical ending where you maintain the status quo, but the Flux State falls. The third one is the same as the second one, but the Flux State doesn't fall.
In order to get the third ending, you have to do 3 things:
1) Free APEX.
2) Give the dragon to APEX.
3) Turn down Lofwyr's offer.
This gives you an epilogue text where the Flux State beats back the mega corps who try to take it over. However, that ending is not canon.
As for whether you can trust APEX or not...that is a little debatable. APEX is deceiving you by pretending to be Monica reborn. However, APEX is not lying about protecting the Flux State or about helping you out.
If you choose to save APEX, then it will quickly drop the Monica facade after it is freed. Also, if you don't give it the dragon, it basically promises to hunt you down and kill you.
But, if you kill APEX, it will keep the Monica facade running. You know, just to make you think that you might have made the wrong decision.
