A lesson in sympathy and why you should try your best to get along with who you are forced to work with.
SPOILERS ahead so read with caution.

I was doing the quest "Trial Run" for the lodge and of course to make my life harder than it needs to be they pair me up with an elf who will inevitably go rogue, a random dwarf girl and the most obnoxious prick I have ever seen who happens to work for the employer named James. We eventually have to kill the elf for his breakdown, and after the missions objectives are complete the random dwarf, James and I begin our escape only to be cut off by guards. Mission was complete as far as I was aware, James was really not worth the trouble of trying to get him out. The dwarf and I make a run for the exit while I left James to die. As you can guess he did not make it. I have never felt more satisfied leaving a companion to die in a game before.

This is a very important life lesson as to why you should try your hardest to not make people you have to work with hate you. Now of course this isnt always possible for whatever reason, but for the most part just dont be a ♥♥♥♥. Dont be like James.

Side note: If you want to make the most of the Lodge's benefits, start as early as possible. The Lodge and The Shockweillenreiters are both interested in the same missions, conveniently enough.

If you make nice to everybody on the Trial Run mission, you can get both James and Jana out alive, surprising Duerr no end. He was sure that you would geek James.

More spoilers: With the right stats, skills and items, you can prevent any guards from attacking you on the way out, until you hit the streets.

1) Charisma 4 + Security etiquette will let you get a codeword "indigo" from the security guard by the elevaor. This lets you decoy the other guard, in the Security room to the far SW, to the first guard's location. Jana can then take both guards out in one shot, preventing any alarm from being raised by the second guard. Also in the Security room, you can send reserve guards on a wild goose chase. The upshot here is that when the arpartment owner presses his alarm, no guards respond, and he flees. You do still end up fighting the foreign elf though. Even if you are an elf yourself with high charisma, the language barrier prevents you from turning him friendly.

2) To the far SE of the map outside the building is a gal on the street, selling things. Among them is Jolt, which is a drug similar to Jazz. Charisma 3 lets you buy these. Buy one, and give it to the stressed Suit pacing around the first floor. He will reward you by giving you the code for his room. There you will find not only a credstick, but a fire escape, which will provide you with a safe exit to the street. There are only a few guards outside to deal with, and with both James and Jana still alive, they should be easy pickings.

3) The clothing shop has a nice, but rather pricey, set of armor. Armor 5 with +2 Charisma. I forget the exact cost, something like 1500 NuYen. Useful for passing Charisma checks. The cyber store sells an encephalon, but they won't install it. Essence cost is 1.5, and you have to get the Doc to install it back in town ... for a fee, of course. Not worth it, IMO.

The first time I played that mission, I had a terrible build and was pretty crap at the game. I lost both jana and james, and luca duerr congratulated me on making it out alone, haha. I always felt sorry for the dwarf girl, though... she's really sweet (and I wish I could take her on more runs, she'd be an awesome rigger).

True, I liked the dwarf. I thought it was cute how green she was. It would have been cool to take her on runs and toughen her up.

Gotta admit, I really liked her portrait, despite being a dwarf.
