Fantastic dive into a retro feeling game without it actually being annoyingly retro. So many games are made with this idea of being similar to an older game but without thinking about what made those games good and what else could be improved upon. Repose knows exactly what to be inspired by and exactly what to change and mold into something new and fun.

You, the player character, are tasked with going into "the facility" to get oxygen tanks, but there's something else going on around here and it's up to you whether to investigate or just get the job done. The guy you're replacing supposedly went missing but... you keep seeing him. What really went on down here? Will you meet the same fate?

You only have so much oxygen (or steps to take) before dying, so you must navigate these puzzle-like levels with meticulous attention to how you're stepping and where you're going. There are also enemies you will find in "the facility" that you must dispatch before moving forward, either with an axe or later a gun . Some enemies won't attack until you move toward them but some have ranged weapons, so you have to move quickly and think on your toes.
Each time you save, which is at a bed, you refill your oxygen and get a save code (just like in the good old days). If you've never used or seen a save code before, it's exactly what it sounds like - a code given to you when you save. This code turns into the way you will load your progress, instead of just clicking on a save slot like in a 'modern' game.
Note: if you're nervous about save codes and remembering them, you can play the game with a feature that saves those codes in a traditional 'save slot' for you.

As you progress you will move further and further down, further into "the facility", which is filled with strange entities, buildings that just shouldn't belong, artifacts like tea or old notes, and sometimes an NPC.

This game, while simple, is so strong. You don't have many weapons or ways to fight or move around but the combination of the few things you do have at your disposal plus the oxygen mechanic (plus the hidden mystery) really keep the game lively.

I like a lot about this game and I think all of it is made very well. It's a tight experience and, for 8 USD, it's very much worth it. It's smart about how and why things are happening in the game and I genuinely think it's a neat experience every game lover should check out. I can't wait to see what this dev does next. So yeah check this one out, I liked it a lot and will be playing more when my schedule frees up.

Small additional thing that I loved but it spoiler-y .....

I genuinely LOVED when I found one of the notes with a fraction of the save code on it. The in-universe tie in with the save codes plus the idea that I could load a crazy version of the game in like a weird location or something just for looking around the environment for notes had me SO hype it was crazy. Genius addition I stg!! Anyway yeah I like this game go play it

Fantastic, stylistic, and dedicated project. There's more to this, I know it. We just have to explore to figure it out.
