Most clear evidence of this is the fact that you did not even notice that game has 3D minimap in addition to 2D pointers (which i personally dont pay attention too and prefer to use my own skills to observe and explore, and gladly UI is designed to be not so intrusive and obvious, so it does not feel like game dragging you in right direction) which shows you directives and closest items.
I mean, why the heck you crying about what appears to be your personal lack of gaming skills? Game already has pretty much enough tips for idiots who cant observe and explore, 3 damn pointers, and even "show icons of everything" button. What else do you want? Press X to let your character go in right direction?
And what kind of fear would be that? Go play Call of Duty, man, this game is not for you.
To the OP: you should pay attention to the minimap in the bottom left side of your screen.
I agree with you that you can get lost exploring the wrong section of the NorthStar and lose tons of time doing so.
So my only suggestion is that you need to take this slow. And if slow is boring for you, then you are in the wrong game genre.
Picture the spacestation intact with a central structure and four wings:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=656034131
When you press "2" or "G" key, you are preforming an EVA Scan of the local area which highlights anything of interest within a close range of your characters location. however the main method of navigation is via the HUD in your helmet on the bottom left.
Now the space station has been involved in an accident and all the wings have broken apart and are now floating detached from the main section and they look like this:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=657476184
Each wing is responsible for a certain aspect of the spacestation, these are as follows:
Each wing requires the following actions to be repaired:
Take a look at this piccy please...
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=656137716
If you look at the radar on the HUD theres is a /\ style arrow on the outer edge, in this case its around 10 o clock, when that arrow is at 12 o clock your character is moving directly to the objective selected. (next waypoint basically) ...
However it does not account for any vertical or horizital aspects, so you may get to the objective location and have to look up/down for what your after. Also to help navigate the broken sections the HUD in that picture creates a line of circles which are basically your 02 canister locations...
this creates a trail of breadcrumbs (aka virtual flightpath) that you simply follow, and as each new section that you fly to changes your trajectory, you simply readjust by placing the /\ back to 12 oclock anytime your lost.
the blimp you are asking for is present, just not how you would like, i explain next...
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=657757474
in the picture above you will notice that the objective is too leave training area, and so the /\ arrow is 12 oclock telling me that the door is in front of my location, and on the HUD radar has a ((diamond blimp)) icon that represents the doorway... (or) objective (and/or) next waypoint
with the small triangle in the centre of HUD being you (this never moves)
Each time you arrive at the end of a broken tunnel preform EVA scan, it may only higlight a o2 location as in this picture but those icons on the HUD create a corridoor/Flight path as previously mentioned
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=657759929
and each time you find another key location there is writing in space, like so...
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=657761695
And all the wings mainframe computers that need repairing will not only also have writing like this but also trigger a different set of music as you approach them. and you next objective after repairing each mainframe computer will always be return to main computer (cerebus)
Main computer terminals look like this:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=657766456
You have to click on the computers there before starting the repair for each wing, and then return here and fly upwards through the plant tunnel from this location to put the backup disc into cerebus
This game worth every hour of my gameplay.
Really? C'mon Voodooman, this is a poor attempt to troll another user. Be better than this.
It was not trolling, im just sick and tired of crybabies of call of booty generation who claims that games are too hard, i just cant tolerate their bullcrap. We already have like every previosly hardcore and realistic franchises and almost any new games dumbed to level even imbeciles can win the game by just pressing X many times.
Adr1ft, while its nice, seems to be a victim of such crybabies as playtesters, so it also has a lot of things dumbed down and simplified, while they could be better and more challenging and rewarding if devs was not listening to CODgen kids and CODified lazy adutls.
And yet, despite presence of 3 direction pointers on screen (which i sadly cant turn off for myself to totally explore everything myself), despite presence of button that reveals all interactive objects and directives, despite highlight of interactive items, and despite all details given in Helmet log and robotic voice tells you exactly what to do. Despite all that assistance without which game would more hardcore and would have higher gameplay value, despite all this some people still find it hard enought for them and want devs to dumb it down even more!
This simply drives me nuts and im trying to teach that modern age cry babies some hardcore and old school way of thinking, because they are like cancer and almost killed modern game industry, and i dont see any other cure except of telling them what they are in hope that maybe they will understand that its not problem with game but problem with their skill and instead of crying and asking for dumbing down game even further, they should "smart-up", train some skills, try harder to beat the game, or go play something suitable to their level, like call of duty.
This video sums up my frustration with modern games and gamers who ask games to be like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1ZtBCpo0eU
or like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4yIxUOWrtw
Left handed people, have trouble combining mouse and keyboard rotations and others dont do too well in flight simulators, and this game is essentially flight style controls, some dont instanly understand, and so forth...
the original poster may even have figured things out after posting, i too got lost in the beginning, until i discovered access tunnel to cerebrum was right above my head.
wisdom comes with age and i moved on from run n gun shooters because my age suddenly found those games terrible but in younger years i felt like some fake sense of im awesome, all this has to be taken into account we are all not the same and what we fail in certain things, we do better in other areas.
your sincerely (fellow troll) oh i have my moments of trolly argonance as well !!
But i share your views in principle too, i prefer the more hardcore, less HUD stuff myself
Alex knew the station before it broke down. Playing that role, a blueprint of the station floating besides her diploma in her room would've been handy, to pick up and find the broken pieces from (could do without a HUD then). i had no problem with Alien Isolation, because of the maps.
Well, I agree with most of what you said, but can't we both agree that different means also that some people are smart and some are stupid? Can't we agree that people who can't understand how wheel of cars turns - are stupid? And can't we both agree that world should not be to friendly and accessible for stupid people since will drag world down and will slow down progress?
I'm am absolutely intolerant to stupid people, but i was more tolerant some time ago until I realized how dumbed down everything become in recent decade (and i mean everything, books, music, movies, games, mass media, culture and education, even windows ui and design trends, everything became Youth Oriented Brainless Approved aka YOBA), this is how I lost last bits of tolerance and started to fight against such trends.
I even making my hardcore stealth game, purely immersive, hudless, realistic, innovative and brave in terms of doing things other afraid to do because they care to much about fun and accessibility and maximum profit with minimal effort and less believability and making something different and hard nobody tried yet.
And I swear I will start my game with disclaimer that will alienate and offend all modern casual players and Deus by telling them what I think about them and what they did to modern games and why they sshould gtfo and ask refund if they don't like realistic hardcore difficulties and and will provide modern warfare difficultyjust for lulz and wil annoy anyone who plays it by taking of controls from them and calling them stupid cheaters, I will clutter their screens by tips and UI until they can't see a ♥♥♥♥, I will make them feel how i insult their intelligence and will make them regret selecting easy mode until the point they will Rage quit or grow some dignity and restart in hardcore old school mode and play i. The way it meant to be played.
all i can think of is have you not done anything stupid, maybe spend a wage on a night out, sleep with a girl just because you were drunk, forget to turn on the power to a device, say something wrong and the wrong times, etc ?
because i have...
I think Jesus would like me to understand all people, after all compared to him im very stupid, and he helps me everyday. In fact in all honestly contining this conversation is probable equally as stupid as anything ive done.
i never was drunk because i dont drink, dont smoke, dont take any drugs (except for books, movies, music, games, and woman i love), never spent a wage on night because i always tend to forward thinking and feel responsibility, i dont sleep with girl until we have established relationships that happens at least like 3-6 months and until im sure we both love together and aim for making a family, i always make sure everything is turned off when i go away from home, but i do say something wrong rarely. mostly its not a matter of being wrong in general its mostly about being right with wrong person who has different and wrong opinion and who consider your right opinion, supported by facts and logic as wrong and hostile one only because this person dont know facts and not very rational to follow logical statements... which ends up in someone considering me a troll or a ♥♥♥♥, simply because they cannot accept logic and facts.
Well, i can be really wrong sometimes, which happens rarely, but there is a difference between rare ocassiional incorrect desicison (caused by lack of complete input data, or time to think about best possible solution, or presence of pressure or some affection by force-major events) and being constantly stupid person who lacking ability of fully rational thinking, lacking observation skills, lacking knowledge and expirience and so on. There is a difference between man with IQ above 130 who may do some rare mistakes and admits it was stupid, and person with IQ bellow 100 or 90, who does or says something stupid most of time and never admits his\her constant stupidity.
And to your knowledge i do not have faith in god, i believe in science and facts that can be checked and proved or in theories that has some proving ground and seems like product of rational thinking.
Thats why im so intolerant to constantly stupid people, they ruin everything around them by doing stupid things, saying stupid things and trying to reshape world around them to make it more accessible to their stupidity, instead of trying to become smarter.
The reason for dumbing down of games is the decision of the developers to entertain what you call "stupid" people, probably to get more sales. So it’s the devs fault.
I'm too young to know, but the way I see it, up until sometime in the nineties, computers were mostly owned by more tech savvy and more analytically minded people, so games reflected that. That all changed latter and so the devs mostly decided to lower instead of widen their spectrums of player capabilities.
But I don't think it's even the case here in this thread. I don’t think it's too unreasonable to expect that when thousands of players play this game that can be disorienting, someone will eventually get confused, stupid or not.
