Is it worth playing Day of Defeat Source in 2022?

You can get the game during sales for $1-5, so would purchase it then if you don't already own it.

It's an old game that has been mostly neglected by valve since it's release, but there are several servers/communities in each region of the world that are well populated and keeping the game alive, using plugins to fill in the gaps where the devs left off. As a result, most servers have their own flare on play-style. The communities are tight knit and is a matter of finding one that works for you.

If you haven't played on a specific server before, please take the time to read their rules, many groups take them quite seriously, and there are a handful of servers you should avoid (see the other 20 posts of people complaining about them).

If you are looking for a casual FPS game that isn't fast paced like CoD or as competitive as CSGO, then this is a pretty decent game to play. If you can get it on sale, it's definitely worth the couple dollars to give it a try, worst case, you don't like it and refund the game.

There are enough guys that grew up playing this game that still have the hook in them from when Day of Defeat was a Half-Life 1 mod. Servers still going.

Yes, and if you have VR. I recommend the server "24/7 Push Day of Defeat" for the game Pavlov.
