Better than Ship Simulator Extreme?
I bought SSE a long time ago and although it had a lot of promise, the gameplay was terrible. The ships were sluggish, the framerate chugged, and the controls were terrible. In short, it wasn't fun to play and I feel like I wasted money buying it.

Just for the record, I have an i7-4770 3.4GHz, 16GB of RAM, GeForce GTX 780, and two hard drives (one SSD and one HDD). There's no reason why Ship Simulator Extreme, a game released in 2010, should produce a framerate so low that I'm lucky to get 15-20 fps.

So I guess my question is: does European Ship Simulator play better and get higher fps than SSE?

Thanks ahead of time!

Yes ESS plays much better. It's not perfect in terms of visuals right now, for example there's no anti aliasing unfortunately, and forcing this in the gpu control panel makes it look worse. However, in regards to the FPS, it's much better. I have a GTX 770 and I get a smooth 60 fps at a minimum with the latest update.

Thanks! I decided to buy it, and so far it's pretty good. It still needs work, but it's an Early Access game, so that's to be expected. Even at this stage, however, it's still better than SSE.

I bought it, too, and i have to say, even though SSE was maybe not that nice to look at, the controls were better and - most important - waaaaaay more realistic! The ESS has so far nothing to do with a real simulation, but i guess they have a big potential to beat out the SSE on the final release! I hope the next updates will include physics improvements!

Just take your time, it's not a fast paced game more really on concentration and moveability, yes it's a great game you will enjoy it

Dispite the name, this is not yet a full simulation. SSE does have better vessel controls. The ships in ESS look a lot nicer than some of those on SSE but especially the larger ships do not handle as real ships would - at the moment they accelarate way to fast. The reality of large ships is that they are "sluggish". They weigh several thousand tons. What did you expect?

That was never the issue for me. SSE has terrible framerates and considering my PC's specs, there is NO way the fps should drop to 15 or so. ESS hasn't done that, so even if it's less realistic, it's more fun because I'm not fighting a choppy mess.

Actually I have no issue with graphics anf fps with SSE but do with ESS unfortunately.
