The Harvesters
Would they be a possible DLC or expansion race?

Sure Moo3 was hated but they had a great gameplay mechanic and personality.

Don't know anything about the Harvesters. Coudn't get past the first 15 minutes of MoO3 gameplay. What are they?

I would think its Likely for Other Races to be added later on, at this stage its a bit early to be thinking about it though

never encourage DLC. I actually refuse to buy games that have too much dlc,
a perfect example would be AOW3 which is just a DLC garbage can.

I actually liked MoO3 lol!

Hopefully they will look at all the franchise, and pick the best bits and make it better.
I hope they put more than just 75 researchable items!

Like they say and look of the trailer is will be a remake of MoO 1 , so there will be no MoO 2/3 content in it

Ithkul was probably one of my favorites.

Just because the name is Masters of Orion doesnt mean only 1 will be in it. Its not a remake - Its a new chapter.

"The ascendant spacefaring 4X strategy game returns! A new chapter in the epic Master of Orion saga is poised to once again capture the imaginations of millions of gamers.

Diehard fans of the first games will be ecstatic to know that this revival is being built under the watchful eyes of members from the original development team, in conjunction with NGD Studios in Buenos Aires! "

See? Returns. New Chapter. Revival. NOT a remake. They also state that the 10 original races will be in there. The same 10 are in BOTH MOO 1 and MOO 2. So be careful of stating things when you dont actually know the answer.

Well i hope they will add them, they are my favorite specie to play. They were made from rogue Antarans that wanted to create havoc through out the galaxies. Its like a parasite that take on a living things and slowly eat it. Doesnt work on rock or cyber forms, but it should work partly on cybernetics, cause they are part organic.

Anyway if the Harvesters are not in the game, then i probably wont get this. I know alot of MoO fans out there hated part three, i loved it and just need to improve the graphics and other issues. I think the 4x space battles was the best part of the game.

Well, expansions and dlc are the thing today, I suppose anything is possible.

I loved the lore in the manual for moo3, and yes, the harvesters were badass. (there were also many other unplayable and unseen races in the moo3 lore that are worth exploring... if they chose to adopt that lore into their "revival")

The Harvesters or ithkul were an interesting race in Master of Orion 3, almost the most unique race I've seen in a 4x game. They were a bioweapon designed to kill everyone - IIRC they were a parasite that would infest and take over the body of their hosts.

Mechanic-wise, they had some pretty great buffs at the cost of being at war with everyone, all the time. They also had a unique thing where an ithkul citizen would turn other race citizens into ithkul at a set rate. So if you conquered a world it would turn into one of your native worlds extremely fast, or if you had migrants move to another world it would turn into one of your racial worlds after a while. I seem to remember they would then give their new "parent" civilization grief for going to war with their "native" race -- i.e., you.

Mechanic wise in MOO1 or MOO(4), the important bullet points would be:

* Extremely strong racials at the cost of all diplomacy -- either always at war, or unable to do any advanced treaties, or both.

* If multiple races on a world is a thing in the remake, then having an ithkul on your planet would result in a X percent chance of replacing one unit of the other race with an ithkul each turn. (Extremely fast to assimilate conqured planets.)

* If an ithkul planet is near another planet, it would have a Y percent chance of replacing one unit of civilians with an ithkul civilian instead. Trade routes, ships moving between the colonies, etc would also facilitate this, representing the ithkul slowly infesting the planets.
