Planet Editor - (Biome Chances?) Surely this cant be too hard?
I simply want to edit the planets to Gaia - just for some fun. How hard is this?

Making a mod and editing the "BiomeChances.yaml" would allow you to make all planets Gaia at game start. With the exception of the starting home planets.

That would need to be adjusted for each race by editing the RaceTypes and probably some RacialPerks editing.

Thank you for the quick reply. I did edit that file, but it didn't seem to work?

The YAML files are very picky about spacing and characters. So much as a single space out of place will cause it to ignore the YAML file.

The other thing that gets people sometimes if that they edit the file in the modding subfolder of the game itself. This does not work. You need to create a mod in the Document location and copy/edit the file there.

Can you explain how to do this? I edited the Biomes Chances file, but not seeing any effect.
(Thank you WhatIsSol)

"create a mod in the Document location and copy/edit the file there." So I copy the "BiomeChances.yaml" file, to the Mods directory (as opposed to the Modding Dir). Then make changes to the file?

In your Document folder. Go to "Master of Orion" and then "Mods". Possible "Mods" will have to be created. Create a new folder for your mod - call it whatever you like. In this new folder copy the "BiomeChances.yaml" file there. Then edit that file.

In the game you will have to from the main menu go to Mods and make certain your new mod is activated. It will have the name of the folder you created above. I want to say it defaults to active, but I would check.

Trying to get the exact steps, (as you know, it must be exact).

Your Modding instructionS:
1.
"Open your steam library, right click Master of Orion, and click Properties.
Click on the Local Files tab, and click Browse Local Files.

This will open the folder on your computer where Master of Orion's game data is stored.
You may want to create a shortcut to this folder so you can quickly access it later.

=ok

I have this:

MyDir="D:\DATA\MEDIA\GAMES\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Master of Orion\Mods\GaiaMod"

And I have these 2 files in the dir:

BiomeChances.yaml
thumb.png

I open the Game from STEAM, and enter the MODS area, (address the warning),
all I see is "Get mods" I click on that, and it says

"You do not have any mod subscriptions"

which then pops up a screen to select some mods that exist (By other people)

note: (MOD Uploader is enabled)

What am I doing wrong?

(sorry to bother you so much) I just want to get this one thing to work.
msterk Jul 20, 2021 @ 5:47am
I'm about to give up on this...

The "mods" folder goes into your document folder.

%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Master of Orion

You should see a folder in there called "Saves" where all your saved games are at.

Create the "Mods" folder there is not already present and then create your "GaiaMod" folder

Thank you for your patience! Turned out my stuff was on the ONE DRIVE path.
C:\Users\YOURNAME\OneDrive\Documents\Master of Orion\Mods\GaiaMod + IT WORKS!

Took a long time for me to realize ONE DRIVE was the REAL path, and not the one under the STEAM Dir. "D:\DATA\MEDIA\GAMES\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Master of Orion\Mods\GaiaMod"

I loaded a game OMNISCIENT , All planets in the map are Gaia, for everyone. Well, I will need to refine this for Gaia to be any kind of an advantage! Thank you again WhatIsSol .

Do you have any theories about how I can limit the Gaia to only one race?
