Your favorite tech in MOO? MOO2?
What was your favorite/most remembered tech in MOO1 or 2? Please no discussion of MOO3 abomination here.

My most favorite tech was the Gyro distabilizer. Always loved the purlpe cloud coming out and the spinning animation.

My most memorable tech was plasma. For some reason as a kid I never started attacking other planets or races until I got plasma cannons. (For ships) I just liked the sound effect when you fired all of them at a target.

I also remember telepathy for being lazy and buying missile defense bases as a cheap, I dont have to guard this colony early game defense.

So the most memorable experience I ever had with an end-game empire doesn't exist you say? Ha.

Capture Antarian ships? They blew up when you tried to capture them... It was not possible to capture Antarian ship as far as I know. But I can give it another try! (Yes, I always have Moo2 installed on my PC!)

There was a way around it I think. Been a long time.
actually, it had a 50/50 chance of self-destructing if captured (due to the self-destruct device).
i loved the antarans attacking me in in early games to capture those tiny ships ;)

Black Hole Generator... I just liked the graphical effect. ;)

And the Battlesuits for ground combat, I totally enjoyed watching those armies clash in epic toe to toe groundcombat.
Bio weapons, forgot the name.
Being a space racist ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I never wanted my planets to be multicultural, but I loved gaining free buildings. Plus war with everyone in the galaxy made things more interesting

Gaia Transformation. What? I liked hiding in one tiny part of the map

Stellar converter (on a tiny ship :D ) + planet construction. I loved rebuilding the entire galaxy into large and huge worlds.
Large and poor? Off you go as a gift to the sakkra.. and then i stellar convert and rebuild as large and abundant.

And ofcourse this kept my empire as Pure Democratic (7), Creative (6), Omniscient (3) +Subterranean (6) (with mutation). No aliens. Stellar conversion was a great way to eliminate aliens.

Or just plain building a planet killer ship.
99+99+99+...99+99 bombs work wonders when it comes to make a ship that destroys planets too.

Another funny thing were the antarean techs. Xentorium and that thingy that disallowed shields byt trippled the armor. Trippling the thickened xentorium and adding autorepair made for one helluva hard to kill ship

If the guns and time warp facilitator werent ensuring near perfect kills for my latest uberdesign meant to kill anything and everything.

Yeah, didnt build much in the way of fleets later. More like singular super-prototypes.

It's spelled Xentronium, I believe, not Xentorium, and the system that takes away shields actually QUADRUPLES the effectiveness of armor- it's considered a special-slot shield called Damper Field. It specifically says it cuts damage by 3/4ths, though, not multiplying the thickness of armor. For that you'd need Heavy Armor (which triples armor points and makes armor piercing rounds unable to bypass your armor), and adding that plus Automated Repair Unit makes for epically-hard-to-kill ships. Damper Field, Heavy Armor, and Automated Repair Unit were must-have specials to equip on all my ships after getting the Damper Field. I also usually wouldn't design a ship without an ECM (usually the Multi-Wave one late-game and not the Wide Area Jammer) or either Inertial Stabilizer or Nullifier, depending on if I have the Nullifier tech yet. All that combined generally makes for some really, really hard to kill ships.

But most of those traits don't matter on the per-citizen level, so I don't exactly see why the 'no aliens' thing is all that appealing. Especially considering the Sakkra have Subterranean PLUS other things that benefit on the per-citizen level. (EDIT: What I mean by the per-citizen level is that any aliens you assimilate into your empire live under your Democracy anyway, and both Creative and Omniscient are empire-wide traits unaffected by population composition of the empire as a whole... though I never really had interest in Omniscient- it only tells me something I'm going to learn pretty quickly anyway, and some Leaders even GIVE you the equivalent upon joining you if they have Galactic Lore... and it just feels like a waste by the late-game, to me)
