Antares or Antarians and ancient Orions Lore/Story questions
What is the storyline here? Is this set after the Antarians returned as New Orions and then got defeated and they're coming back for a fourth beating?

Where are the Antarians and will they be fit in this game? One of the reason why I loved playing this was the lore of the Orions vs Antarians. I would love to see more background story on the ancient Orions and where they went. Why they never returned to protect the younger races from the equally ancient Antarians? It seems only the Antarians keeps coming back but Orions never shows up.

Will this be fleshed out? :)

Orion now guarded. So I think that this is reboot, not the sequel.

If I remember correctly - MOO2 had a starting clock of 3500? While the starting clock on this MOO is 2500 A.D.! I will allow you to draw your own conclusion(s) from these two datum.

Thus effectively MoO 3 never happened. Antarians were effectively banished after the battle of MoO 2. Hmmm, I hope they redo the story of having the Orions returning with the Antarians as well and we get involved in an epic war or something.

if the antarians come back then it better be more tha just a dimensinoal warp to attack a single colony / planet. they better have a TON of planets.

I just have an issue with the storyline that has been told in MoO, in every one of them. They keep featuring the planet "Orion" in each game. Orion is apparently very significant and obviously so. I think it would be nice if they could develop the Orions more and flesh them out. For example, there was Loki's ship in MoO2 and he was a live person but was he an Orion? They never said what he was or where the ship came from.

We understand that the Antarians were banished by the Orions because they're a bunch of wuss and won't deliver the killing blow thus they keep coming back to get their asses handed back to them eventually. It gets old and it would be a nice change if they could just develop the story more about the Orions and Antarians relationship or their past that lead to this new reboot of MoO.

Just my 2 cents.

The Antarans in MoO2 were mean lean killing machines until you could handle them. They had tech you couldn't research if I remember correctly, just like the Orions. Of course every game sports the planet Orion, otherwise the game would be named anything but Master of ORION. Duh! :steammocking:
MoO2 - Battle at Antares had each race as a player/AI plus the Antarans as an allout evil supervillain striking at everyone with small assault fleets and then vanishing again.

Orions and Antarans have a similar relationship from what I know like the Timelords and Daleks in Doctor Who. They waged war against each other and both sides vanished. It is questionable what happened to each side.
Maybe the Orions ventured on to other galaxies or higher planes of existence, we only know that Antares seemingly vanished into this pocket dimension, from where the Antarans plan and perform their strikes from.

Would you prefer several starsystems this time so they can overrun the entire galaxy this time? Fine with me, but then I want more than just one Doomstar as compensation.

In game tells you that the Orions warred with the Antarans, managed to banish them to a pocket dimension then died out leaving behind just the Guardian.

Apart from GNN rumours no sign of Antarans yet but since they appeared in MOO2 and this is a reboot of MOO1 im not overly surprised. Could be a DLC/addon feature later.

If i may put in my "2 cents"?
With MoO3 came an instruction manual with a storyline in wich the Antarans took revenge and wiped out the Bulrathi and the Mrrshan.
In their place came the Ithcul and a number of other races.
