comet event is too strong, i had all my 14 cp (destroyers with missiles) an missile and starbase and still my planet was destroyed.
Since this was my second planet, u realize how this multiplayer ended.

Whenever you play multiplayer games it is usually best to turn off random events. You can turn them off in the Advanced Settings when you create a game.

ok, beside that, there is something else i can do to destroy the comet?

Sorry, can't help you there. I have never had that Event.

I've been playing since Day 1 of release and never even seen that event.

I can't finding anything about a comet random event for Conquer the Stars. There is mention of it in MoO2 and the solution was more ships.

Assurably the comet event can't happen in vanilla. It is among one of the new events added by the UCP:
Add.0.0.5.9: Added new random event "Comet". A comet will impact and destroy one of your colonies unless your fleet in orbit around the planet can destroy the comet first.

I am yet to encounter it myself and don't know how much firepower is required to obliterate it. Nevertheless it is a recognizable nod to the two first games. In MoO1 it has happened to me a couple of times. Didn't GNN even give a successive progress reports on the total damage done to the comet? Can't remember.

I probably have at least a 1000 hours in MoO2 and I don't think I ever got it there either. lol
Probably more like 2000+ :)

Meanwhile I've only had a single playthrough of MoO2 with a total playtime of 31 hours and a ½. =) According to its playerguide on StrategyWiki the comet event is specifically marked as rare in parentheses. Truly a rare event indeed when someone who has played the game for possibly 2000+ hours has never seen it even once. lol

I still play MoO2 every now and then when I want something simple I don't have to think about too much. :)

After playing moo cts with ucp, i cant go back to moo 2, moo cts is much better.

Oooookay. Tonight I got comet event for the first time ever. That is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ badly balanced event. Early game, destroying planet is too much. It needs to be toned down a *lot*.

Feels weird after having said never seen it for it to happen very next game. Holy crackers its a bad event :D
DukeOfLight May 5, 2023 @ 2:02pm
yes, its very unbalanced...

It has the same chance of occurring and start time as the supernova effect that destroys the entire system.

I did in 6.4 lower it chances of occurring. But very possible the military might that is needed to destroy the comet needs to be turned down as well.
