hmm I haven't tried x-com 2 yet, but yea, timers suck. Is there a mod to remove that ♥♥♥♥?
Yep, same here... Money waisted in dreams and high hopes.
More like "Mo 1" :-)
And even more simple: If you loved Moo 2, you definitely want to avoid this.
Nothing like MOO3. Nothing at all.
Bull.
MOO 1 was absurd, all ships stacked subspace Teleporter was an I win button.
MOO 2 had horrible grundy combat with the I win being hidden in the phase cloak, but ai could not tech or build so no need, plus instant defense fleet travel.
Moo3 I did not play.
Anyone claiming this game is less good than the older titles is lost in the rosy glow of memory and divorced from what actually existed.
Nope. NOt lost in rosy glwo of memory at all. It's what I prefer. I loved MOO combat. I liked MOO 2 combat. I would have liked MOO3 combat if it had a pause button. Even Birth of the Federation combat was nice to watch.
MOO CtS combat is not fun. I understand why it was made like this, but not knowing when you are going to shoot next and not having information is NOT FUN. Not being able to pick out a ship and you ships just auto shoot is NOT FUN.
Same can be said for you that you are divocred from what was actually fun. Stop putting people down and have an actual facts to prove your point instead of saying "rose coloured glassed on". What is next going to start calling people names because they have a diierent idea of what is fun from you?
I listed facts. Both 1 and 2 had "I win" buttons. With 1 it was the subspace Teleporter with 2 it was the phase cloak and time warp manipulator.
MOO CTS doesn't have that.
What you call auto fire, I call never wasting a potential shot. My guns fire as often as they can.
While it is true that you can't select an individual target you can select a squad so focus fire exists, just not as focused as moo2.
More important to me the tech gap is not as crushing in CTS. Older ships can still compete with newer ones.
I also like that a small ship swarm is a viable strategy in CTS.
The person I quoted offered no support for their position.
You have said what you don't like, from where I sit I think you would have preferred turn based combat.
For me, late game fights in CTS are amazingly fun. In moo1 they were the same as early game fights just bigger numbers in the stacks. In moo2 late game fights became a chore. They took 30 minutes to resolve sometimes and if I let the ai autorun it got my ships killed.
I agree many ships can be unwieldly and not fun, but in the begining of the game where there is not many ships I would like to control them. Again, personal preference. So I say give us options. Leave it as is for people who like it, and then we can turn it on or off for those who don't like it, or in my case leave auto off so we can control everyting and then turn it on when you get more ships.
Again, the person has more fun when he can make choices to his/her own playstyle instead of being forced to play a certian way.
If we had this, then MOO would be an 8.5/10 instead of a 7/10.
I just don't see a reasonable argument for the earlier games being better.
Some of that is preference I'm sure. I really like how the real time battles eliminate the next ship/target click fest.
I don't want weapon timers or more specific fire controlled, I would love to be able to have my formations tighter though and to be able to use click and drag lines to tell my ships what direction to attack in as a line.
The combat certainly has room for improvement, but it is already very solid.
