"Rush" and "Homeless" achievements
What would be a good setup to kill the Guardian before turn 150? Or what is the minimal anti-Guardian fleet? I'm thinking advanced start, fastest science, production and growth. I'm thinking of using the Terrans. Curious what others have done. Also wondering if there is a good seed + setting to have the players Homeworld lost to a nova.

4 battleships with Merculite Mirv Missiles.

I used 35 torp loaded frigates myself. Lost nearly all of them but the guardian went boom :D

Since the Guardian nerf, you'll have no trouble with that achievment.

If you don't mind setting up for it; max speeds, smallest galaxy, one opponent on very easy, & advanced start. Any race will do but +prod & +growth/food will help as well as reduced ship costs.

Simple strategy is just mass ships with missiles/torps and make sure your fleet is there before turn ~145. Honestly, Rush is easy now.


As for Homeless, I don't remember the seed I was on the *one* time I've had a nova in my system.

@Shmily_Dana - How many turns in? Coming up on 200 and the only supernova I saw was one jump off of Orion, nowhere near my homeworld.

Edit: also, how many opponents did you have? Apparently that affects starting location.

Anyone else have a seed for home system supernova?

Are all random events really kept the same when you use the same seed? This seems like a strange way to handle things, and it reduces the replayability of the seed.

I don't remember how many turns. I am sure I only had one opponant. I don't have a save from back then. Maybe the patches since have changed things.

I just got it to work using the above details. I used a Blank custom race (no traits chosen). Game was over around turn 78, I didn't colonize any other worlds except my home system, and only played against one AI. I reloaded a save and colonized another planet right before my home system blew. Funnily enough, about 30 turns later, that system was also hit by a Supernova, and I died again (didn't have enough research/pop to get a solution in time).

That seed worked for me - I used the settings ahsog used.

I didn't bother to settle other planets
I did send my scouts out to explore the cluster (that used some time)
I set the game for (*) auto-next-turn
Had the home planet just generate BC with auto-clean turned on.
9 Min 34 Sec play time.

As a note: The other race ended up being the Humans.

I had the following mods installed at the time.
  • UCP 5.8
  • UCP Steam (they are both arms of the same installed patch)
  • Resource Pack
  • Diverse Specials
  • 5X UCP Compatabilithy
  • Archology
  • Custom 5X Assets
  • Shield Name = Damage

    There is a mod called supernova madness afair. You basically mod the game so that all the possible events are super nova. Should be good enough?
    Has anyone done the rush achievement within the last year? None of the suggestions are working for me. And the guardian certainly doesn't appear "nerfed"! I had 4 battleships with even better than the mirv merculite missiles, and a bunch of little frigates with mirv merc. And when i clicked on the guardian i got a little red stripe so impossible still.

    I do have the patch installed "unofficial code patch" from nexus. Which was recommended against the bugs.

    I'm really getting frustrated because even on "very easy" setting I can't get this and the "dinner's ready" achievements using all these recommended settings but those are all from people playing the game in 2016.

    Please some recent player help?

    Very easy doesnt change the guardian. It just makes it easier because you dont get annoyed by the ai.
    All game settings.on very fast should help, as well as advanced starting ages.

    If you are using Tactical Mod, this achievement is probably going to pretty hard to do. I boosted the guardian pretty significantly to make the fight more challenging.
    Thanks for responding. I don’t have a tactical mod atm. Just the UCP mod which balances the game.
    And i don’t expect guardian to be easy but i do expect it to be doable. And it isn’t for me. I have fastest and advanced settings as described in the above advises from 2016.

    Has anyone recently done this achievement?

    Well I expect you can pull it off pretty easily with an advanced start and just push all your resources into building frigates with torpedoes. They do high damage and you can mass them which will counter a lot of the heavy weapons the guardian has. You'll lose a lot of ship though.
