Star Trek? Gotta wait for mod support first. It's coming, but we don't have it yet.

What's a "star track"?

Question is, what do you mean by support? Would I try it and play it? Yes. Pay for it? I don't think we can.

I hope to create some of my own mods as well. Excited by the possibilities! Need to brush up on my YAML file knowledge I guess.

its plain text, no mysteries
You mean "Star Trek". You might want to work on your grammar and spelling first. Lol. I do know the Star Trek lore pretty well. I hope this list helps. It's the most known factions in Star Trek.

The United Federation of Planets and Starfleet (Humans, Vulcans, Andorians, Tellarites, Betazoids‎, Trills, Bajorans‎ and Bolians‎)
The Klingon Empire (Klingons)
The Romulan Star Empire (Romulans and Remans‎)
The Cardassian Union (Cardassians)
The Dominion (The Jem'Hadar, Vortas‎ and Founders/Changelings)
The Breen Confederacy (The Breen)
The Ferengi Alliance (The Ferengi)
The Orion Syndicate (Orions)
The Borg Collective (Borg Drones and the Borg Queen)
The Q Continuum (The Q)
The Tholian Assembly (Tholians)
Species 8472 (also known as the Undine)

i got this idea form very very old games and i like would this work
You could look up some of the Star Trek games like Star Trek: Armada and Star Trek: Armada II (which both are real-time strategy games) and Star Trek Online for more references and ideas for a Star Trek mod. ;)

I don't know if I can post a link here so I won't. But have you herd of Star Trek The Birth of the Federation? That is the real Masters of Orion 3. At least to my eyes. It's made by the same company who made MOO1 and MOO2. I am sure it was suppose to be MOO 3 but once Microprose got the lisence for Star Trek they took what they had for MOO3 and made it into BotF.

Good game. It's even better modded. So if you like MOO and want to play it like Star Trek look for that game. Too bad that game wasn't included in collector's edition. Game can still be played if you know where to look.

Davor said it best. I got given BotF when I was younger after hounding s relative to buy it. One of the best 4X experiences I ever had + it was the Star Trek Universe, one of the best lore to play with! I wish there was a remake to get it working on more modern PC's.

More it was Next Generation universe, but there are mods that give it an overhaul. My favorite mod is the one that starts from Enterpirse Era and moves forward.

That said, I can't wait for people to start modding MOO and see what they can come up with.

Interesting, I didn't know that. I have never played it but I heard of it. Hidden Evil, Deep Space Nine: The Fallen, Klingon Honor Guard, Klingon Academy, Armada I & II, Elite Force I & II, Away Team, Bridge Commander, New Worlds, Starfleet Command, Shattered Universe, Legacy, Conquest, Star Trek (The 2013 Game) and Star Trek Online are the only ones I played. I think I played Star Trek: 25th Anniversary once. I also played Star Trek: The Kobayashi Alternative on the Apple II computer and Star Trek: The Next Generation: Future's Past on Super Nintendo. I love all 3 Star Trek eras (ENT, TOS and TNG) even the Kelvin and Mirror Universe.

Finding images of what all of the ships should look like will not be difficult. Getting the various races to behave as they should (according to lore anyway) will be. Ultimately though, your main time sink on this will be modelling all of the ships and creating the advisor and leader animations. You can use Blender for the ships but I hope you've got several months of free time. If you do...I'd highly recommend a Defiant model for the battle ship level of the Federation...Titans and Doomstars...you're on your own there :P
Good Luck, it'll be a massive undertaking.
