Marine pods?
Well, for the first time I was faced with a tech choice that confused me. One of the items was Marine pods, which are described as increasing the number of marines a ship carries.

Umm, why bother with this? Since there is no boarding of ships in space combat, why does this even matter? Or is the description perhaps misleading? Does it refer to troop transports rather than combat ships? Increasing the number of marines in a troop transport from 4 to 6 would certainly be useful, but that's not how the description reads.

Or perhaps they are planning on adding boarding to space combat at some time in the future?

i hope they haven't discarded boarding feature, but for now, i guess they forgot to exclude it...

It does increase Troop Transports to 6. Poorly worded but that's what it does.
Those extra couple troops can definitely come in handy

Drat! I wasn't certain what it did so I took the other option. Oh well, I'll just build more transports then.

Oh thats cool. With that Space Academy(Empire unique building) that i just found out(by reading it again after some time has passed i finally read and understood that thing)will actually decrease the command point use by 50% of some misc-civillian ships and that troop transport - it will increase the capacity of your military force somewhat.
It still fills me with a great sadness though that they seemed to have discarded the ship-to-ship boarding feature that might have been planned at one point. It was the one saving grace for not having turnbased combat like in moo2 for me.
