Military Outpost?
What dictates whether or not I can build one? I have several warp spots were I need one, but all I can build are sensors. I checked my command points and even scrapped several military outposts that I didn't need, but I still can't build anymore in most locations. I've checked all I could find on the game help screens but nothing is telling me what I'm missing.

Thanks.

You have to colonize a planet in the system in order to build an outpost or warp gate on the warp node. Otherwise, you can only build the sensors.

Not sure how I missed that in the notes in game. But I could have sworn some of the systems I tried this on had my colonies on them. I'll have to check tonight. Also some systems that I already have a military outpost on wouldn't let me build any more, yet I was the only one in that system. Seems there's more to it I'm not seeing.

If a system was owned by an ennemy, sometimes you don't see there already is something on the warp point, an incompleted structure, started by an AI, but abandonned. You have to bring your fleet to bomb it before being able to build. Could it be the case ?
Also, do you use UCP mod ? If not, you should, since it fixes many bugs.

You can only have one construction project per warp node in a system. If a system has 3 warp nodes you can add one Outpost/Listening post per node if you have a colony in the system. As Random says, if you are in a system and multiple races own planets, the AI will build their own outposts on empty nodes. Sometimes the abandon these constructions if a threat is imminent. Do keep in mind, bombing the unfinished construction or even engaging a fleet on a node with it will force a declaration of war.

Well I reviewed everything and while the system in question had a planet that I bombed out, it apparently still belonged to another empire, thus I had to bring in marines to fully take the planet. That cleared things up. Thanks all.
