Issue with tech tree: "macro economics" missing

My tech tree doesn't have "macro economics", and therefore I can't research Galactic Trading. I am using 5X and UCP. Any help?

Sounds like a known compatibility issue. DSMP or something with assets in use?

You might be right. If I try a new game without DSMP, it "seems" that the Macro Economics is still missing, but there is a clear path to go through it now, as opposed to my other game.
I am just surprised that people use this mod and there's no mention of this very significant bug.

Load DSMP before 5XCPC

I can confirm that DSMP was the issue. They should say it in the mod description.

Loading DSMP before 5XCPC is at the bottom of both the 5X and DSMP mod descriptions as well as at the top of the 5XCPC mod description. I do still get this question a lot though.

Thanks for your reply (and your amazing work with the mods!!!). I tried changing the order but I still get the issue. Is it just me?

Also, do you know anything about the displacement device not working (at turn 223, but working previously)?

Changing the mod order should have resolved the issue. Just to verify, did you change the load order by using the in game mods menu? Sometimes people misinterpret changing the order as the order in which one subscribes to the mods.

Another possible cause is if you didn't run the UCP java installer file after subscribing to UCP on Steam.

I don't know of any displacement device issues, but I don't use the special myself.
