Not seen any way to change colour. I was a bit surprised something like this was left out of the game. Especially for multiplayer people like to choose their colour. It doesn't make any difference gameplay-wise I guess but its a touch of polish that is missing.

Choose the Sakkra and create a default race with whatever traits you fancy. Problem solved.

Well, OK, you will still look like a giant lizard, but you can live with that.

I do this, or just other race, for >150 in game hours. So yeah i can live with that, but i dont really want to live with that. Hoped there is sth to do about it.
Is this part moddable?

This annoys me too. In previous MOO's you could pick your color regardless of what race you were. It seems like an easy thing to enable and it has no affect on gameplay so why not. I wonder it it's modable.

You can adjust the color via editing a file. RaceTypes.yaml and RaceTypesDLC.yaml depending upon the race Values to look for are colorR, colorG, and colorB.

To be more exact, it's not just the color, it's the ship style that goes with that color. So for example maybe I'd like to play as the Meklar but with the Human ship style. In previous games you could pick your race first, then the color and the corresponding ships style that goes with the color. For some reason in this version, the color and ship style are locked to the race. I understand the ship styles are designed around a theme suited to that race, but what's the harm in allowing us to chose to mix it up a bit.

sorry, where exactly are these files?

I would make a mod to make this change and not edit the files directly on your install path. But the files are in a directory called "Modding" off of wherever you have the game installed.

have you tried that? didn't work for me.

Seems to work for me. Changed the Bulrathi to white using this mod below:

---
- collection: &Backend.Civilizations.RaceType
items:
- key: race_bulrathi
colorR: 255
colorG: 255
colorB: 255
...
# to reintegration to mainline

Can I do this for an existing game?

Yes they are exposed via the yaml modding system.
