Starting as a high gravity race
When starting as a high gravity race I thought that medium and low gravity planets wouldn't cause a gravity penalty. I was wrong. Upon settling a medium gravity world I suffered a 25% penalty. Why would you spend 4 points on high gravity home world as a custom race? It seems to have no benefits at all.

In MoO2 playing a high gravity race gave you bonuses on lower gravity worlds. I know this is a different game, but I still can't find any benefit.

Every ultra rich planet that's medium or larger is heavy G, every rich planet that's large or huge is heavy G, and every huge abundant is heavy G. This is about 25% of the planets in the galaxy, and it's the best 25%. I agree it's not worth 4 points, but it's not the case that there's no benefits.

In MoO2 you didn't get a bonus on normal G worlds and you still got a penalty on low g ones. You got a ground combat bonus though.

they killed a lot of options that where plausible and good in moo2 in this game. what u seek cost 2 more points than high gravity and is named gravity tolerance. no penaltiy at any gravity, the stones have it as perk for example.

You're right, Spud Dastardly, I was conflating the lack of penalty on normal G worlds and the combat bonus from MoO2 in my memory.

I was not aware of the game's planet spawning mechanics. Makes sense.

Thanks for the information.

High G has some perks to it, as opposed to picking Low G, which is truly awful and deserves to be rated a -6.
