Abandoned?
Has the game been abandoned? Don't see any developer communication at all with the players. Another game where they hit their cash goal then quit? Is this the future of steam games?

I suspect the game is just in *flux* and not abandoned. The reason for this is that this project was a hand picked and sponsored project from the owner or wargaming.net. He played a crapload as a kid and wanted it to be a legacy for his kids ot play and enjoy. The IP was purchased under wargaming.net but under his direct order and decision so it is his personal project. He wants this game to be perfect in the end. The development house is likely just changing hands and the announcement just hasn't happened yet.

Thanks for that

That story about Victor Kislyi's reason to purchase the MOO IP was trumpted by all the Wargaming lead developers and producers right before Early Access started.

Based on the current lack of activity and developer updates, it's more likely that Kislyi has changed his mind. The guy's a billionaire, and he's got more important things to do than build out the perfect 4X game.

Here's a recent interview with Kislyi from early March, 2017: No discussion about MOO from him: http://www.polygon.com/2017/3/7/14834044/wargaming-ceo-interview-world-of-tanks

You could also argue being he's a billionaire he could turn his attention back to MOO development at any time he feels like it? But that possibility does no favors for the customers left waiting for that chance event, does it?

There was an answer to a question on their FB page from around the 26.02 (saying that star lanes are staying) so who knows..

Well It's 11:00am 3/17/2017 I just got a MOO patch of 21.9mb.

So MOO is not dead, dead yet.
Spud Dastardly Mar 17, 2017 @ 10:45am
It's just an update to the game manuals. They are going to give a bug fix patch sometime soon though apparently.

*points and laughs*

You guys remade ths thread after the last one was debunked by all the links to recent dev posts on the support forum? Now they have confirmed a stability patch. I imagine a week after that patch you'll remake this thread yet again.
yes, thats why there was just an update

Stability patch? Haha, what specifically does that mean?

Looking forward to the new issues the nebulous stability patch will create.

No doubt. That's not the point though. The game has a lot of issues, a lot of work needs to be done to make something decent of it IMO, and I doubt it will ever get there. But it's ludicrous to call the game abandonded while the devs are still actively posting in the support section, and the last patch was only a few weeks ago.

Have you ever seen victor kislyi posting or saying anything publicly since the fiasco started?

But then before the former devs left, the decisions they made to game design were becoming worse and worse.

The only "CEO" I have ever seen actively participate with the community is Brad Wardell from Stardock, it's just not something that's normal or that matters. Generally they are suits who don't know anything about gaming and who only care about profit, since that's their job. They aren't game devs, they don't participate in the game design process, they have completely different priorities and concerns. You have latched onto a press release meant to stir up investors and media and tried to make something more than that out of it. Victor Kislyi likely doesn't even play games or know what MoO is.

There are no "former devs.". NGD and Wargaming are the only people who have touched MoO4. Nobody left, I don't know what you are confused about.

When you read about former devs: that are the boys from NGD studio. Don't be confused.

So you have comfirmation that NGD has left and is no longer working on updates? Please feel free to provide evidence of this hand-off and how Wargaming (who had nothing to do with development) suddenly obtained all the source code and understanding of the game engine to begin working on patches on their own. Until you have that evidence everything you post just sounds ridiculous.

It was Spud Dastard who told me more or less that Victor Kislyi is a big fan of MoO and that this project is important to him. Meanwhile I think this is bullcrap

It was said in an interview to promote the game and is almost certainly bullcrap, and it's completely irrelevent.

The last patch was from December 29th of last year. In your mind that's a few weeks, but in the minds of other rational people that's over two months with no formal update on patching plans.

I'm glad NGD Studios were not my parents because I would have starved after two months of neglect, and yet you would be publicly defending them, "But, your Honor, NGD was only away for a few weeks, and they brought back some food, anyway, so it's preposterous to call this a case of neglect or abandondment".

The updated version includes the Revenge of Antares features. Let us know what you think about it!

We also want to inform you that a new stability patch is currently being worked on, and it should be released in the near future.

Thank you for your ongoing support and for all the Conquered Stars!

Ok.... <looking side to side for the troll> sounds like a patch coming.. hopefully kills the issues with large fleet battles.... Please keep me updated if it does, or should I wait for the $5 buy in ;)

Honestly, take your $5 and just go get MOO1 & 2 at GOG. You will have a better experience with either of those two games more than you will with this. Even IF they fixed all the bugs.
