Can't join multiplayer game

Hi,

Yesterday I played together with another person on the same LAN and everything worked fine (except a few bugs where game elements were out of sync etc, but that's a different story). The other person left and joined the game a few times to fix those out-of-sync errors, and that wasn't an issue.
Today, we wanted to resume the game, but the other person doesn't see my open game when selecting "Join Friend" in the main menu. We've also tried opening a new game on the other machine and me joining there, but I can't see it either. I've started the game on a third device (my Steam Deck), and it can't see either of those two games running.

How can we resume playing? Older games at least had an input field for the IP address of the other computer when discovery failed, but I can't find anything of the sort in this game.

Hey, we are sorry to hear that you have had issues joining your friends in a multiplayer session. I have shared this with the team. For now, have you tried using the "join game" function that is available in Steams friend list? Maybe that one could work?

Also, did you reactivate the co-op in the menu. You have to always press to allow your friends to join. you can do that before loading the save or once you are in-game in the menu.

Sorry for not responding earlier. Interestingly, inviting the other player to the game via the Steam overlay fixes it! That's very unintuitive, but at least we found a way to get playing again.
I also vaguely remember that I invited the player to join the game the very first time around (just for fun), so I just happened to do the right thing by accident, and then didn't remember to reproduce that step.

So great that this worked out for you! It is very strange that you can't invite going through the regular main menu options. I have written it up and shared it with the team.

Hey so i am actually having the same problem. I cannot join my friend who is playing the game, and i also don't have any options in Steam to even join his game. We have no way to play together

I had to invite to game from Steam. But only worked on one computer. The other wouldn’t let me send the invite. After that I was able to join through search.

Could you check if the game or your profile settings somehow has that your game status (e.g playing Squirreled Away) is hidden to others
