how do I pass (or even fight) the 2nd boss?

Having fun so far. However the 2nd boss seems to turn all the items to shadow and I have to throw them away first. But while I'm doing that, the boss just kills me in an instant kill since I have no weapons. There's no time to even think up with the countermeasure. Do I need a specific item or there's a way to recover my equipments?...

I really dig the idea of the game, I'm just having trouble understanding what kind of agency I have in the gameplay. My decisions seem to be "hold spare weapon, equip gear when found, trash junk asap to leave room for drops". Are there elements I'm missing? The Orc has high strength, so obviously he gets Str weapons, etc. There are no guides for the game so i'm reaching out to anyone for some understanding to make this game enjoyable....
