Micro Stuttering Solution
I took a quick look around for a way to make this go away but everyone said the dev was working on it. After playing around with the settings I found the problem was with "image effects". Once I disabled this everything started to work nice and smooth, no stutters. To be honest I'm not sure if I noticed anything different with it disabbled....well except for it working better. Hope this helps someone else.

I tried this, but still have some stutters. What are your other settings?

I may have celebrated a little to soon on the fix, I still get a skip a couple times per level but thats a lot better than everytime I turn a corner. As for settings, that is the only one i've seen make a ny difference on performance. I may play around and see if i can find something else to tweak.

The game is pretty cool but I have frequent micro-freezes/stutters, which doesn't help a lot when you have to shoot precisely.

I first thought it was because I play on Linux with an ATI GPU but out of curiosity, do you have these stutters on Windows or do you play on Linux too?

I'm running Windows 8.1 on an Radeon R9 270

Ok, thanks. So it's a multi-platforms issue.

(I haven't tried to disable image effects, though.)

Did not work for me either. I've tried everything within the settings menu...still micro stutters every ~10-15 seconds.

Interesting, I know heaps of people have this issue but I don't at all, had it slightly freeze for a bit about 3 times so far but that's it. Intel i5 2.6ghz with HD graphics 4000m, 1up for integrated I guess.

Turned off the image effects, helped a bit but I still get an fps spike every minute or so, and it usually happens just as Im trying to move, resulting in me teleporting forward. Really annoying when trying to go slowing around a corner to scout for enemies, as it moves me further than I intented. :x

Yeah I have to say as much as I'm loving this game, all the stuttering is making it very hard to enjoy. It frequently causes me to miss shots (sometimes not fire at all) or take needless hits. Doesn't help that the stutters seem to like to happen right as enemies aggro or are rendered. I may just put it away until there is a fix.

i have tried all options in the menu and have the same problem!
the fps spike is keeping me from playing.

same here. game seems really good but the stutter kills the fun for me.

I have to admit that I've seen notes in reviews about the stutter, but have underestimated the effect of this. Very hard to enjoy or recommend the game when it is constantly punishing you for something that you have no control over. Having gotten the game on sale it does not matter that much, but still quite disappointing.

I'm in the same boat. It's unplayable for me right now, as the stuttering is so frequent - I'll be running along, a stutter hits, and suddenly I'm standing with my face flat against a wall.

I just bought this game recently, and I was under the impression it had been out for at least a year or so. Can this problem really be so common, and yet there isn't a clear solution for it?

Wow, I just noticed the pinned thread on known issues which mentions micro-stuttering was written in May of 2014 (unless it was edited in during the most recent edit, in March, which I'm thinking isn't the case). It's weird and disappointing that this hasn't been pinned down yet.

If you're still having problems, you might want to change the title of this thread, just so it indicates the problem is ongoing, rather than solved (which appears to be the case with many of us).
