Which HoMM version is best?
I heard that 3 is the favorite version? But also read in reviews that the steam version of 3 isnt as good as original?

Which version do most think is best, and why?

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Complete is the best as it's an original full game with two expansions made by NWC who knew how to make great homm games. Heroes of Might and Magic 4 is also nice

I love the 4th one. The fact that the Hero can move and fight by his / her own. With the right strategy I could keep most of army protecting my castles. I simply love it. Im still waiting for remake/HD version, or at least steam version of HoMM 4

3&4 are best. But 3 is only good and not great without its expansions and stuff.
1&2 are also surprisingly good considering how old they are, and are also well worth playing.

Heroes 3 was my favorite for years. Heroes 4 on initial release I just could not take the changes. But after some time heroes 4 took over my favorite as I really appreciated caravans and having more than 1 hero in a group. of course there were other reasons, but those two stand out the most. so I vote Heroes 4, then 3. notable are ! & 2 were great games, anything past Homm 4 , forget it.

3 complete and 5 are the best in that order imo. 3 was the best refinement of the formula while 5 returned to it after 4 tried copying age of wonder. You can get complete version on gog if you want that version as this hd version is missing content and is a rip off.
