Any research papers progression tips?
Everything in every research tree looks good, hard to prioritize one over another. I am running with Anna, Emilia, and Earl, and just finished both Observations and Nature Sciences trees. My team is more science focus. I still have some research left. What should be the next tree I unlock? Thanks.

Engineering sounds good with Anna and Earl likely being strong Engineers, the Apparatus Expert should probably be prioritised as it will give you some nice extra gold on their spins.

Anthropology is also a good option most of the time, extra Science and supplies from encounters can carry you a long way.

Thanks Flamestalker for the swift and helpful reply. Will be spending research on Apparatus Expert and maybe something else in Anthropology for supplies limit.

This game is not as easy as it looked at first glance, or I am not as smart as I thought I was. Thankfully some of you guys are quite active and helpful.

Another thing: My start menu is the oriental building with fireworks in background, is that the default background? Any way to turn it back to the default background because the fireworks is a bit troublesome? thanks.

No the Forbidden City background is the one added in the Emperor's Challenge, so far I've heard no word on the option to switch back to the default one. You can turn the fireworks off though, if you turn light-sensitivity mode on the fireworks will stop, as well as dampening several other bright flashing things in the game.

Thanks. It's just that I never see the background without the DLC, just being curious. No big deal.

You're pretty much where I am. I like Anthropology for the food and everything in Engineering is very useful. But sometimes I have a couple of additional papers and I'm never really sure where to best use them.

I unlocked Observation tree first, and then one of the tree below for either gold or science depending on my team, and then Anthropology or history.
