Report a translation problem
I managed to fix the problem simply by verifying the game cache, and after doing the battle, the game now seems to be ok for now (I've made it to chapter 3 without a crash so far).
I'm running the game on my laptop at the exact same settings as the OP (except I'm using a controller). I tried running the refresh rate in the other setting (sorry, can't remember what the other setting is called), but doing this caused the game to run in slow motion, so I wouldn't recommend the other setting unless your PC or laptop can handle it.
