Game is running incredibly slow (low fps in game and in menu) bug fix?
Just bought the game and I know for a fact that my pc can run it very well, but for some reason it has very low fps. (It initially ran really well and smooth and then this happened) When I'm on the main menu, the music plays normally, but the interface of the menu is SO slow (ie the flames in the background, and moving around to choose start game, options ,etc). And the same for the cutscenes, it moves slowish and the gameplay fps is sluggish. I tried changing the graphics settings (lower resolution, 30fps lock, etc) but still the same! Anyone else facing this/know how to fix it?

My specs
Windows 8.1
i5-4210m
8gb ram
gtx 850m

thanks in advance

Turn off vsync or alt + tab off the application and go back in and that should put the speed back to normal

This works.

Have had instances when the game starts in 30 FPS and simply alt+tabbing sets it back to a stable 60 fps.

Do you have both V-sync on in the Nvidia settings and in-game? If so, turn one of them off and if it's only one, try changing over to the other one.

Also check if there's any program running in the background that could impact performance (Flash likes going crazy with the RAM usage).

Edit: No point in sending me a friends request. I'm not a techie and are mostly clueless. I'm just running you through my own initial troubleshooting.

Vsync is not enabled in the control panel and the game is set to use the graphics processor as the option, but no use still. I checked my task manager and it says that my anti virus is using around 44% of my cpu. Turning that off did nothing.

turn off external frame limiter, that solved it for me.

I was able to fix my issue. Go to your nvidia control panel and then navigate to graphics processors options ,select valkyria.exe app in your steam folder and set it to run off of your graphics card. It might be set to run on integrated like mine was.

What if all you have is an integrated graphics card? Are there any other settings that should be changed?

Although VC runs ok on a good card, I am afraid its performance is not very well optimised for PC. My experience for integrated is to lower the resolution all the way down. Not enjoyable, but it works when I want to experiment with strategy, away from home.

For reference, I'm using GTX600, full HD 60 fps with anti-alias. But on Intel HD (i5) I have to run it at VGA or sub VGA resolution.

I tried the solutions posted above (the V-sync in the game options is off, I'm running at native resolution 60Hz, the framerate is locked at 30fps or at refresh rate and the AMD crimson tool VC profile is off).
I'm using a i5 6600k and R9 280x so no problems running the game.
But duing gameplay the fps are aound 20. I remember that when I started the game the first mission was running fine but now it is not anymore.
Any other advice or maybe I'm missing something... Thanks!

do you have integrated vram? try to force main video card

Surely the CPU has an integrated graphic (that is disabled from the BIOS) but at this point I do not know how to force the game to run on the 280x. The iGPU is not on the device manager either. Any ideas? Btw the game runs at less that 20 fps also at the lowest resolution possible.

It could be something other than your video card/driver (if iGPU is disabled in BIOS, you 100% aren't using it). Specifically, try disabling any software that does a lot of background disk I/O (like AV, automatic backup software etc). And, of course, try rolling back to some previous driver version.
