What happens when Rosie or Largo dies?
I've always been curious, but never tried it. Rosie and Largo (I think that's the spelling? The anti-tank guy), they are both officers that are rquired in many missions. But in objectives, it's never mentioned that the game is over if either of them die. It's only game over if the two main characters die.

But there are cut-scenes with Rosie and Largo in them. So if they die early on, what happens to those cut-scenes? Does the game adjust for that? I thought the game was all very linear.

The enemy AI will refuse to finish the job from what I have seen. And they'll just lie there.

Don't you get only 3 turns before they automatically die? Or are you saying for these particular characters it's infinite?

They have plot immunity. They can't die, but you do lose the CP they give, which hurts more.

Hm, I see. Too bad.

It happened to me already. It's almost like in games such as The Elder Scrolls Oblivion, where too important characters cannot be killed, only knocked unconscious. Same deal here. Largo and Rosie are invincible. The enemy reaches them, they even get a death scene with them calling for help or making their last statement, but then it suddenly displays a somewhat altered message:

"Largo / Rosie has retreated from battle".

You cannot use them anymore until the battle ends I think, but they're not dead. After the mission ends they will be back in the barracks and fine and dandy. No need to worry. Because of this they also make for really good bait.

Well like I said, they give you CP when deployed, so you really wouldn't want to lose them permanently.

Less of an issue in VC2, because that game lets you decide which of your people you want to be your CP granting officers. (But everyone in that game has Plot Armor I think.)

And a VC3. But both only came out on the PSP, and the third game was never released in the US.

Had to look up what the PSP is. Ugh, why would they do that...

The amount of rage I felt on that decision back in the day... It wasn't pretty.

For the same reason Square Enix followed Deus Ex Human Revolution up with a Deus Ex title for tablets - Poor decision making in favor of releasing a product on a trend device, not realizing that the real audience was and is originally elsewhere and would not be interested in a watered down mobile title.

Money really makes people blind. $_$

Actually VC2 is not bad, it is more focused on characters and you learn more about them than in first game, if you wanna see more about characters from first game, go for anime, that focus more on whole squad, not just main chars...
VC2 and VC3 (Sadly just in japanese and partial fan-made translaton) are not "as good" as VC but honestly, if VC3 was made for PS3/PS4 it could be even better game than VC, story and characters are more interesting and you can actually go watch few short OVA for VC3, they are really well made and show perfectly interactions of those three games

VCII takes place 2 years later during a civil war, following military academy cadets that police their region (play VC 1 through and you'll see this makes sense. I ain't spoilin' nuthin!)

VCIII takes place during VC 1, but follows the black-ops group 422nd Squad "Nameless", a penal squad sent as cannon fodder. These are missions that the army decided were too dangerous for wasting Militia troops on: that's saying something, considering what the Militia's 7th Platoon got put through.

Both games are on the Playstation Portable (and maybe Vita via PSN, but I'm not sure). Unfortunantly, the 3rd game is exclusive to Japan, but a fanmade translation patch has advanced far enough to enjoy a playable experience. But be forewarned: check the region on the case of any game you purchase to make sure it will work. On some hacked PSP's, this isn't a problem. American systems will play UMDs with a "1" or "ALL" region rating by default.

I hate them both and i don´t like the fact i cann´t remove them from my squad neither can i let them die so they are not in my squad anymore. they just should go to hell.

I had VC2 on the PSP. I really liked the PSP it had proper support by Sony and 3rd parties.

At the time I was still used public transportation and it was really helpful to pass the time.

As for 3, from what I understand they didn't bring it to the west to due to poor sales of the system and 2 in the USA. It did just fine in Japan.
