Minimum requirements - running the game on graphics cards with 512 mb vram
Hello everyone,

I wanted to play this game for years now, but since I don´t own a PS 3 I sadly could not. It was a happy moment for me when I saw that the game is to be released on Steam, but then I noticed that the port requires a graphics card with minimum 1gb ram. Since my laptop only has 512 mb of vram (Ati HD 5145) and said laptop is my primary computer, I decided to wait and see if the game runs at such low specs before purchasing it. My remaining hardware matches the recomended specifications required to run the game.
So, has anyone tried, with success, to run the game on graphics specs similar to mine? Is the game playable? At what resolution does the game run at 30 fps if at all on such a setup?

Thank you for your answers and have a nice day,
Wing

TLDR: does the game run on 512 vram?

I've played it on two different machines, the older one running 9600GT 512, without any problems. Buttery smooth 60 frames at 1440x900.

Thank you for your info.
Anyone there that tried to play the game on a laptop graphics of similar specs? (9600 GT is a desktop card and quite more capable compared to my measly hardware)

On the Galian Liberation Front FB Page, someone ran it well on a Intel HD 4000 series laptop.

Peter "Durante" Thoman, a reviewer for PCGAMER claims that the game runs fine on Intel HD 4000.

If there is someone running the game on the Ati radeon HD 5145(this card specifically) please write your experience. Ty =)
I know it´s a long shot but it´s worth a try to ask anyway.

I've been trying to get this game working for the last hour on my machine. Iv'e got a 2.13 Ghz processor that meets the minimum requirements, but I am unsure if my Graphics Card meets the minimum requirements. This machine has a Intel (R) HD Graphics Card. That's literally all I was able to find out about it. I'm not exactly a tech savvy individual, so I don't know how much help that will be. Sorry and Thank you in advance.

If you're curious or unsure, check out "Can You Run It".

Go there and enter Valkyria Chronicles in the search field and go.

But please, take everything it say with a grain of salt.
I have a GeForce GT 240 which the site claim is unable to do the job, despite me already having played the game flawlessly at 1920*1080 with silky smooth gameplay.
What's important with the scan is to see if you fulfill the individual requirements. Example:

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Required . . . . . You Have
Icon Pixel Shader version . . . . . . 4.0 . . . . . . . . . . 4.1
Icon Vertex Shader version . . . . 4.0 . . . . . . . . . . 4.1
Icon Dedicated Video RAM . . . . .1 GB . . . . . . . . . 1.0 GB

As you can see I fulfill it in spite of my graphics card having failed just because it's old.

Hope this can be of help to you. :)

Thank you all for your advice. I decided to purchase the game and, if all else fails, I will play it on my brothers computer with adequate hardware. I will report if the game is playable on my sistem.

First mision ran well, definitely playable on the native resolution of my laptop. Will report if I encounter any problems later.

I've been wondering the same question you asked and I know this discussion is kind of dead but I was wondering if you have ever had any problems running it?

Old discussion but I'll throw my two cents in. I am running it on my AMD A10 5800k APU. On only an onboard video card. It runs smoothly enough. I am using 8gb of 1866mhz ram, fast ram affects APU performance. I am not sure how good your laptop's video card runs to be honest, but if it can run on my browsing rig it should be okay on yours.

Hello guys. The game runs well on my machine. To be frank, I haven´t finished it yet, but I am pretty far along(last two or three missions). Till this point the game did not tank in a gamebreaking fashion. The only two situations in which the game does tank are when entering smoke and on one mision, where you are required to sneak trough tall grass. The smoke one is not a problem, really, since it stops the moment you fully enter it as the artstyle changes. The slowdown in grass only gets anoying in the mission I allready mentioned. It is not gamebreaking in any way shape or form and is probably caused by the copious amouts of vegetation in that particular mission. I still got an A rank on it.

Hope this helps.

Windows 7 Home Basic 32-bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M 350 @ 2.27GHz (4 CPUs)
Memory: 3072MB RAM
Card name: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5145

Glad to hear it runs smoothly. I went ahead and bought it when it was $10 a few days ago. It's been running great! No slow downs yet, though, I'm not far into it (about 4 hours). Loving it thoroughly!

FWIW runs like butter at 1280 x 720, inc. including in grass and smoke.
On Radeon HD 4850 512mb, 2.4 Quad Core, 3.25GB RAM, Win 8.1 32bit
Have not witnessed any slowdown what-so-ever, it really is smooth as silk.

I could probably push higher if I had the patience for trial and error, but looks great so not bothered.

I assume mobility cards are weaker so would use caution.
