VC2 also had some of the best music in the series in my opinion.
Heard the sequels weren't as good though anyway. In any case I'll be happy to replay this gem atleast.
FYI SEGA in case you are reading this (not that I really think you are or will) that is the only reason I was able to purchase/play VC2 (since my PSPs WiFi died) and playing VC2 is the only reason I considered throwing down for VC1 before it hit a hand full of price drops and sales now that it has hit PC. Just saying...
VC2 only really has the three flaws. Two of which are splitting up the levels and reusing levels as much as it does but both are direcly due to hardware constraints. As the PSP probably couldn't draw enough polys at once to not split up the levels and the UMD probably didn't sport enough room to add in as many unique levels. The third flaw is the one that sorta grates on me and that is the grind for classes primarily because of how random the game is when it comes to assigning battle loot. So not only do you have to make sure the soldier you want to upgrade is one of the top three in your mission but you also need to pray to the RNG gods that they actually get the ONE thing you need to push their upgrade. As a result I'm ~40hrs into the game and very few of my soldiers are actually upgraded past the second tier.
So for a portable game it is fairly competent and I have heard virtually nothing but good things about VC3 which continually vexes me as SEGA doesn't seem to have any interest in localizing it even tho I would have purchased it the second it hit the PSN as long as it was something I could load directly to my Vita.
