I'd totally love a PC port, remake, or sequel. I think a lot of us would.
Yes they do.
they made a Cameo appearance since the game was made by pretty much the same team
I have been saying they need to do a port of SoA for years.. go take a look at EBay, copies of SoA are selling for hundreds of dollars, I can garuntee you a port would sell like water in a desert
I heard rumors a few years back that they were planning a port of SoA, but it was canceled because the Dreamcast games they did port did not sell well (which I am not surprised.. why the heck would they port Space Channel 5? no one outside Japan liked that game)
You are wrong :)
It did get a port to the Gamecube a while back (that was how I got introduced to it). But then the Gamecube exited stage left.. .and we know the problem there.
I still have that console and an N64. But I don't think it can have as large of a market as-say- a VC1 like Report onto Steam.
But beyond that, I agree. It definitely needs more love.
the game itself has aged surprisingly well for a Dreamcast game, still has one of the more engaging turn-based-combat around when it comes to boss fights (and the Ship battles were a nice twist as well), but still its the story and the world which makes it loved so much.. there is a reason it is so commonly referred to as one of the best JRPGs..
while I know alot of younger gamers may be turned off because they would look and say "eww, Ugly Graphics" (since Younger gamers seem to put alot of Emphesis on such these days) which may hurt some potential sales, i am sure it will still sell extremely well..
when it comes to JRPGs, it is still a masterpiece, even by todays standards.. sure, it has its fair share of issues (the extremely high encounter rate, some massive Difficulty spikes at times, and the "you go grind before a boss? well, the boss is going to become stronger the longer you wait" mechanic can be extremely frustrating your first couple playthroughs), but few games out there give you such a sense of Exploration and a sense that you are in this massive living world.. the Story is Interesting and has several shocking plot twists, and by the end of the game you have come to love alot of the characters, even some of the more minor ones..
Agreed. Another reason why I jumped on it when I could. Better than going around hoping to find it.
Here here. It could also do with a more universal platform in that sense, rather than having to deal with the confines of either a limited console (and this is no disrespect to consoles, I love them) or physical one.
Agreed indeed.
Indeed, VC did and while its' graphics are not as old it still works plenty. But you could always remaster the graphics (after all, new port new oppertunities). Maybe even offer the potential for voice acting if necessary (though that could be a double edged sword, and not the kind Vyse maaay like).
Indeed.. I know it's been a major inspiration to me creatively, and I think in a lot of ways it handles the "make the minor characters important and distinctive" side of things better than VC1 (though that could just be me). So I imagine if there's enough pressure, SEGA will likely listen. Particularly as its' other cash cows like the Total War franchise slip....
Still could be a long road, and the company is known for being particularly stubborn about missing oppertutnities...
Nah, they don't have to do that. Plenty of people would buy it without voice acting.
