Why is Edy so popular?

This just gets me intrigued. I never used her while playing VC, she has Panicky and Rosie Hater, both potentials that lower her attack (something you definitely don't want for a Shocktrooper). To be honest she's one of the worst Shocktroopers in the game, and I can't even see the charm in her personality either.

But yet, I realised not only Edy takes the lead role in Edy's Detachment DLC, she also makes a cameo appearance in VC2 story mode where her sister is a playable character too, and I just found she also appears in VC3 story mode as a fixed member of Squad 7! :O

So what's the reason for her being so popular, did the anime do anything splendid that made her such a beloved character or something?

honestly Edy has an annoying voice and her face looks like someone went crazy on the pinch tool in photoshop. Marina 4 lyfe

I don't know that she's popular or not. I do know she's a spassoid. She's used I beleive in her own mission DLCs because she's intresting as a charater. Plus it shows how much of a misfit band the malitia are s'pose to be. Edy (spas), Susie (ding-bat), Homer (fruit-loop) and so on.

Tsundere personalities are beloved in anime-fandom circles, and Edy is no exception. She couldn't have been more anime unless you gave her a tank the size of Manhattan. The only non-main +10 Defense Against Death character I think I might have liked was Dallas because she wanted to sleep with Alicia so badly, she got an evasion bonus just by being near her.

Agreed OP. I mean, Jane has Imp Hater which makes her deal extra damage to *you guessed it!*, the enemy you fight in every battle. I get my shocktrooper roles filled by Rosie, Jane, and Vyse.

She's not the worst shocktrooper though. That has to be Dorothy, who also happens to be my favorite one!

Sega forced her popularity, Edy was the public "voice" of the game in the official blog far before the first game was released, they of course made her the stereotipical tsundere so that forced popularity provably gave some fruits, the rest of the Edy detachment members thou, were selected by the (japanese) fans in the popularity contest. Not sure about Homer, since he was also part of the blog appearances, they both usually gave the news, and fought in the process (to Homer's enjoyment). I wish someone had translated those... the blog lasted until the third game, not sure if it's still alive somewhere.

The Valkyria Chonicles Wiki actually says that Edy is the most popular in Japan and Marina in the west.

Edy was the only one in my unit that died, and it was because of the "Rosie Hater" trait. I thought to myself: "Well, you didn't want to work as a team. So...."

I dislike her because her voice is ridiculous.

Jane and Marina all the way, they're crazy and sadistic.

I also enjoy Largo/Jann. Jann is hilarious.
