The show will give a bit different perspective of some characters, but it wasn't as good as the game's story though.
The Anime isn't worth it in my opinion.
Also due to those changes one major plot twist at the end of the game doesn't exist in the anime (which is pretty sad to be honest)
I also think that you can appreciate the changes they did (atleast the good ones) more if you know what's supposed to happen.
If you play the game first you will probably be bored with anime.
Skip it.
The manga cuts quite some stories, so it also leaves you lots of new things to discover in game / anime. In fact you won't even see Han the Squad 7 mascot.
Perhaps what is most important is ends is obviously unfinished (cut short at Chapter 14), which leaves you wonder what happens next and make you (me) play the game.
I am playing and watching anime at roughly the same progress. You can test a few chapters / episodes to see which one you prefer.
To be honest I prefer the game more than anime, and I am not against skipping it. Your mileage may vary.
I think the anime spoils a good deal of the game story, but not all.
For example I am pretty disappointed that the Vasel Bridge cutscene didn't make it to the anime.
Or if you hate Alicia. Because I felt like she was being treated like dirt throughout the majority of the anime.
