Is Faldio a douche? [Spoilers]

I thought he was just a random guy who's friends with Welkin, barely had any screen time in the game, though he plays a really major role in the anime version for some reason.
So i finished the latest chapter i was at, it was the first part of the naggia plains, cutscenes roll in, someone snipes Alicia on the shoulder.
Fina (the medic) says the bullet was from a gallian weapon, it's obviously HIM (there was a scene prior to the battle where he was at the old building with the old timey valkyran writing or whatever).
His reasoning (as far as i know), is because he thinks she's a valkyrie, under any other circumstance, he could have been wrong, and could have killed her.
but for plot conveniences, turns out she really is one. lol
I hope there's going to be a scene in the game where Welkin confronts him about shooting Alicia and all that, and maybe deck him in the face.

There is a scene about it, but you will need to buy it from Ellet by going to the Castlefront tab in HQ. It will show up as a report(a seperate page) in the book mode.

Oh wait, that is the one where the confrontation happens, might unlock auto but there is an report on him suspecting it before then(signs of awakening is the name I beieve).

Ah yes, it is a report but it is unlocked automatically. Its the only one that does this so that is why I was confused

I was hoping for Faldio to be a playable character at some point, or even in a one-off mission. Mainly because I wanted the "Experimental Rifle" that he used to shoot Alicia.

He could have just used a stolen imperial rifle, but hey, a ultranationalist has to be classy right?

I suppose the "Royal" weapons you get from Cordelia are some kind of special or experimental weapons too... or the later R&R varians of the Sniper-rifles/Machineguns/Flamethrowers with "addedd effects" could be experimental ones...

Also I suppose that an Imperial rifle is not only less accurate than the Gallian ones, but also has much more firepower which means there is a chance he'd blow Alicia's head to pieces rather than just wounding here.

though, if it weren't for his actions, i can't see how gallia could have won on naggia plains, since selvaria is pretty much on god mode.

He absolutely is a d-bag. But he's also correct.

Except in the anime where he's a d-bag and him being right was kinda retconned after the fact.
I hate anime Faldio, almost irrationally.

Interesting. Steam censors the topic in the actual thread, but not when I read the 'new threads' activity list.

Anyway...

The opinion in Squad 7 seems to be that they shouldn't rely on Alicia's Valkyria powers -- perhaps not entirely unreasonable because her first appearance is fairly scary in that... she doesn't appear to be in full control of herself when her abilities first manifest. There's also the risk that Faldio took if he were wrong, but really, the events in Barious with the locked door opening to her touch was a pretty obvious proof. What Faldio should have done, is first explained his theory and motivations, and THEN shoot. ;)

And had Selvaria not turned off her brain, the game would have ended at Chapter 7 at the latest. :D
