I wasn't able to get it out either. I hope for your sake that the Shamrock has its anti-armor cannon, as unless there's some technique I'm unaware of it's the only one that can get out to shoot at Selvaria and slow her down.

Only purpose the tanks serve really is for the Smoke Screen, otherwise they simply wont be able to get out of there. It would make the skirmish a bit too easy.

Oh, I missed that it was the skirmish. You don't need the tanks in that case.

in the chapter i used mortar rounds to slow salvaria without getting out of trench. but in hard skirmish i read some guide and it said get out of trench and shoot heavy tank from behind. but i guess that was for ps3 and they changed it

You really don't need the tanks in the skirmish, and if you want a high ranking they're just a waste of CP. Destroy the Destroyers on the first turn with the Edelweiss and/or lancers (you'll need a rear armor hit for optimal preformance), then take out the heavy tank at the camp by attacking the radiator with a lancer or a demolition boosted shock trooper. If you take out most of the infantry or otherwise get them to a point where they're not able to fire interception, it's easy to sneak a soldier behind the tents to get up to the tank.

you're kind of playing the skirmish wrong if you need tanks for this one. You can beat it in 2 turns with 5 cp left over (best i had with a lucky double movement proc). in the chapter, i also didn't even need to use a turn for tanks at all (had engineer by turn 3 spawn in, disarm all mines, backstabbed everything with 2 scouts teamming up to shoot at the same target, 3 scouts shooting tank at the end and an easy capture of flag).

i was talking about hard skirmish though

i finished it but it would be more easy to shoot the heavy tank in the field with edelweiss. not near tents, no tents in hard skirmish

Well, those holes resemble anti-tank ditches (even when they are quite narrow), so I guess it's intentional.

In the campaign map though, it literally tells you to take cover in the holes and pop out to shoot Selvaria. They're clearly designed (from a gameplay standpoint) to be used by tanks, so it seems strange that they would be at an angle where Edelweiss can't escape and Shamrock can only just get out.

Even in the map where you get attacked by the two Dromedarius tanks, I noticed the enemy tanks being unable to climb up ramps. The AI would select the tank and try to move forward, but it would just stall out on the slope.

Makes me wonder if the physics got changed somehow during the port to PC. These issues don't make sense to be intentional.

That's actually pretty valid point there. Luckily there are console gamers here, so I'm sure we will get a definite answer in the near future.

in this guide search for C08 skirmish hard. it says get edelweiss out and shoot the tank. but this is from console version and that's why i asked it actually.

I guess that confirms it then; console and PC versions are different. I'm starting to feel even stronger that what Coppermantis said is true.

Place your bets: will we ever get a patch that fixes this? ;)

Are you still stuck if you lock the frame rate to 30 fps?

Only thing different (according to others) is that the PC version has much less CP provided compared to the PS3 (which I would say is a good thing).

If you're looking to take out the tank in hard, I highly recommend getting a lancer to do it instead of the Edelweiss. Audrey is love. Audrey is life. Largo is ok too...

I know for a fact that this is not the case. It is possible to finish the missions equally quickly. Both the console version and the PC version gives you the same amount of CP.
