In a way, yes. Some of the main characters are romanticly interested in eachother. There are also some minor characters with romantic relationships, which give them bonuses if they fight together with their love ones. You can't really influence the romantic stuff though.

Not in a "visual novel" sort of way: there are no routes to romance a bunch of female characters. The game tells its own story. However, there are a few romance subplots in the game, yes. I can think of three from the main cast (pretty well done too), plus a couple of others between some of the secondary characters which are conveyed only through the character bios, their lines, and their reactions to each other in combat. There's a LOT of room for shipping though, if you're into that sort of thing.
