Challenge Skirmishs | Jann's Challenge, Homer Simpson's Challenge, Ed, Edd & Edy's Challenges?
Some advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

back in the day in 2008 around the time this game first launched on ps3, i finished the main story and all basic skirmish missions, i also bought the behind her blue flame DLC mission with selvaria and finished that later on too.

but i apparently skipp'd the edy DLC stuff and these 6 class specific extra missions that give you op Imp weapons as a reward and tons of exp and money.

I beat Suizie's and Marina's challenges (Scout and Sniper) with the help of this Yellow Duck guy on youtube (thanks man teehee) but the fruit cake, the masochist and the wendee lee all seem extremely difficult.

am i missing something with these 3 here or what?

10/10 names for the recruits lol.

*ahem* Maybe you're underleveled? I heard those are supposed to be a real challenge.
I think it's recommended to not tackle them until... Ch.16?

I'll just quote myself from another thread on this subject (slightly edited though):

When they are beatable - varies per challenge:
  • Susie's is a known optimal for grinding level 20 from the start.
  • Jann's - wouldn't recommend without Ultimate Anti-Armor Lancers (around lv.19 in that class, don't remember for sure) + decent R&D Lances.
  • Marina's - you need decent interception fire damage, so again, gated mostly by R&D progress.
  • Homer's - High level Engineer is pretty much the only thing you really need (Elite AP bonus). If you want to kill Ace - do it after Ch.12, because Smoke rounds that you get there are the most reliable way to deal with him
  • Edy's - Access to MAJ-X Machine Guns (Ch.8) is probably the main limiting factor.
  • Tank's - probably same as Homer's, maybe Homer's + Edy's, depending on the strategy.

thank you very much! appreciate it, i'll get on this right away, guess i'll get to chapter 12 first and farm at suizie's challenge, with that statement i assume the huge amount of exp and money doesn't decrease after going at it again and again?

All rewards are static. Although I don't recommend farming Susie's Challenge. All of the game's levels are balanced by hand. What I mean is that enemy stats depend on a map/chapter rather than your overall XP or anything like that.

Being overleveled will make the game easier than it should be, especially if you go all the way to 20, since it unlock Ultimate X potential line that has 100% activation rate. Aka troopers with those are guaranteed to get ridiculous bonuses to their main stat (well, ridiculous for early chapters anyway).

You can check intended level for any particular map by looking at enemy stats in-battle (either through Unit List or in Action Mode).
You can mostly keep up in levels by getting B/C ranks in all battles and playing some Skirmishes if you fall behind. Easy and Normal give the same XP/DCT rewards, so you don't even need to bother with Normal to get back up to speed.

Although if you've already beaten the game back then and don't really care about doing it again - yeah, just do Susie's over and over. You will still need R&D for Jann's challenge, unless you want to abuse ZM Kar 8 from Susie's Challenge.

Yeah, i'm a veteran of VC, played it near-launch back in the day in 2008, only did it because a good friend of mine back then forced me to play his copy until i enjoyed it so much i bought my own from 08 amazon.com lol.

Yeah i've done the main story and selvaria's dlc stuff before so i don't mind being op early on in the game, mainly doing this all again for nostalgia purposes because VC has been the only SRPG i've ever come to enjoy (That and it was only $5 on the last Sega Publisher sales on Steam recently). Stuff like Final Fantasy Tactics never really did anythin' for me.

Added you as a friend btw, you seem to have a lot of knowledge on VC stuff, I wasn't even aware you could change the weapons of each of your characters back in the day, i mustah' been pretty dumb when i was 18 years old because i didn't even realize Welkin's Tank had upgrades.

Sounds good then, I'll farm Susie's Challenge and bring in the exp and monnies. Thanks again Doom. :)
