WHERE IS MARINA WULFSTAN?
So, I started NG+. After those first introduction missions, I went to headquarters and recruited her. Had to quit the game, didn't save. I get to the same point after launching it again...and she's nowhere to be found in Barracks. Did I do something wrong?

Recruits join your squad at random. Each time you moved on to the next chapter couple more random ones will join the squad.

You will get her, it's just when she join your squad will be random. In the mean time just use other Sniper with GSR-30R.

Every single time you are supposed to get new recruits in barracks, it's fully random. That pertains to the "first draft", as well as any other people joining later on.

Just save before entering barracks and keep reloading until you get people you want. Alternatively, there's save editing to get everyone you need (look up here in Steam guides or elsewhere on the Internet).

Phew, thanks. I thought something got corrupted. Can't go into the field without her skills.

Once you have GSR-30R (or even GSR-30), it doesn't really matter who you use as Sniper (well maybe Cezary with his Acrophobic).

Unless you plan to get real close to Imp to snipe them with Imperial Sniper Rifle (very low range), Marina's Ultimate Accuracy is really not needed in game. You are aiming for headshot anyway.

As far as I'm aware, Cezary's Backup Sniping is the one and only damage boosting potential on snipers in vanilla: +60% vsPers and Accuracy.
Sure, it has as low of a chance of activating when needed as every other non-ultimate-x potential, but Achrophobic's activation condition "climb a ladder" is MUCH more rare than B.Sniping's "no allies nearby".

ED: Of course I've forgotten Nest Master. It just gives +60% vsPers after climbing a ladder, no accuracy bonus.

I suppose damage boosting potential might enable a Sniper to one-shot a crouched Imp. I never tried it since I ususally rely on grenade, flamethrower, or Lancer with mortar equipped.

That, or at least damage him enough to get a doublekill with shocktrooper on the next move. In any event, a "good luck" chance to open up a few more options.

It might work or not depending on the Imperial's class. Pretty sure it won't be ohko on a crouching Shocktrooper or Lancer.

I like where this thread is going.

GSR-30R with 170 vsPers and +60% damage buff will deal 272 damage before defense. That's a dead crouching Scout, even with a camp defense bonus.

I'm a bit too lazy to dig up proper numbers, but a quick look gives me that their HP = 110 + 5 x level + 15 for elites = 225 @ lv 20. Maybe a bit more if I screwed up where I looked, but not by much. And their def was something like 3-5 + whatever armor they have, <15 in total. Leaders get an extra bonus, but even then we have some room to spare before we hit 272.

Shocks and Lancers surely won't die, they go over 400 HP and even the best non-dlc sniper rifle doesn't go over 300 without headshots. ZM SG 5 is 183 damage, so +60% = 292.8 damage.

So crouching Snipers and Scouts will die, Engineers are so few and far between that they don't matter (probably will die too), Shocks and Lancers will live.

ED: oh and Hard & Ex skirmishes give them more HP, so at some point Scout Leaders might stop dying too, not sure.
