Playstation Portable...

It should not be a problem though since 4 is in the Federation at the same time as 1 while 1 is in Gallia. Different areas.

Though I do question about how 'rare' Valkyria can suddenly start showing up all over the place.

what do you mean rare valkyria, im going in dark and wanted to get an idea on the story....is 4 stand alone? should i start there in stead?

To give you an idea, it doesn't really matter which order you play the games. 1, 3 and 4 take place during the same war, then 2 takes place two years after that. 2 and 3 (and probably 4 too) contain spoilers of 1 though, so as long as you play the first game first you should be fine.

VC3 are the "unrecorded chronicles" of a certain squad that fought behind the scenes, and VC2 chronologically has not yet happened, so it's unlikely that VC4 will have connections to those.

either one or both on them are on ps vita
And one probably on PS

VC2 and VC3 are both games made solely for the PSP handheld console. You can either play them using an emulator (such as PPSSPP). Or you can skip them entirely; every game in the series is standalone, so you don't need to play them in order (though I would recommend playing VC1 first to get a feel for the world).

I would say play VC1 and dont worry to much about VC2 and VC3. VC2 takes place years after VC1 while VC4 takes place in the same time as VC1, VC3 follows operations that were blacked out with alot of black ink, so its likely that the rest of the world doesnt know about the happenings of VC3. So if VC4 does make any call backs to any of the games its likely going to be VC1 as its events in the world were the most well known, though i doubt that will be the case sense VC4 is following the Atlantic Federation, a seperate faction to the Principality of Galia which was the protaganist faction in VC1.
TL:DR
play VC1 and you should be good Fam.

you can play 2 on pc. I have a review of it running smoothly at 60fps now probs

only real issue is VC 3 as its all in japanese. I read that there was an english patch for it but ive never been able to get it to work or download the patch myself as the 1 place which claims it has it brings up my virus alarm

The people who made the English patch for VC3 (https://vc3translationproject.wordpress.com/) posted it on Mediafire:

If that still doesn't work for you, let me know.

VC2 & 3 were made for portable systems and would not translate well graphically and gameplay-wise(combat) enough to turn a profit. The story for 3 is worthwhile if your into the games universe. I've played all 3 and just dont see 2&3 coming to PC.

it says LINK REMOVED

i REALLY need it if u have the actual patch. Everywere ive looked for it just comes up with virus warning
The "virus" warning is likely because it uses an Xdelta patch or something of the sort, which most AV software just preemptively flag as malware, regardless of what's actually in the patch

DISCLAIMER: If follow the steps below, you do so at your own risk. I'm not responsible for any damage you cause to your computer/OS, regardless of intent.
Should be all fine and safe, but humans manage to screw up simpler things on a regular basis. Hence the disclaimer.

What I'd do here is to
- dismiss the virus warning,
- scan the patch's files with virustotal/similar, and
- properly confirm if it's safe to run.
- If feeling paranoid, also use Sandboxie/similar for the 1st time it's run

No need to do the patch work yourself, just look for the already patched game.

Agreed, that's indeed another viable option (and probably the easier one tbh).

i would do that if i could, All the websites u usually get my roms from just have the japanese release of the game only. Cant find a patched version anywere. Its annoying because i liked 2 and wanted to play 3 but sega being sega.....well they dont make good choices
